Woke up to a couple of messages from mates who are over in Germany.

Severely disappointed in the way we went out last night just about summarises their views.

It's bad enough watching from home but the time and money the Tartan Army fork out when following the team they deserve more than they got.

Ach, I'm scunnered, the form has been slowly trickling away sine the qualifiers, albeit we got pumped by some top class teams.

What does the future hold for the manager and the team, very hard to say as they have given the support some of the best results and performances in years in the qualifying games (easily forgotten it seems) yet, when it came to the crunch, they let the country down.

My opinions aren’t in anyway limited. They are as valid as anyone else’s. 
 

You're moon howling now. Drawing up old arguments as a coping mechanism to handle the disappointment of last night. 
 

It wasn’t though was it? It was centre backs, a goalkeeper & strikers. Zero mention of anyone in the middle or on both flanks. Do you even disagree? 🤦‍♂️

Penalty claim aside, and I'm not totally convinced it was a pen., I think young Lewis should have taken one for the team and stopped the Hungarian on the half way line. I was shouting at the telly at the time. Maybe it's supporting Scotland for so long but, as soon as they broke I just knew what was going to happen. Saying all that we should have been able to stop the ball from reaching Csoboth. Christie didn't close down enough. 

At the end of the day, we deserved no less than we got. For most of  the game we were pedestrian and predictable. They could have scored more. We didn't have a shot on target in the first half of a game we needed to win. While I'm not sure it would have made a difference I cannot believe Clarke started with Adams who is bereft of goals instead of Shankland though  I would have preferred he started with 2 strikers. I know it's easy to say in hindsight but, In the death throws of the game I think he chose the wrong options. At that point he could have been braver and left Adams on to partner Shankland up top.

In the calm of the day after the night before - time for reflection.

When at full strength, there is not a lot wrong with our defence and midfield - others may disagree.

Up front, we struggled to mount effective attacks on the opposition let alone score a goal - this a fact and not an opinion.

As pointed out in the article, Shankland, Morgan and Forrest got little or no chance to show what they could do to improve things but it is hard to think of anyone else who could have made a difference, despite the fact that we persisted with the first choice striker who had scored only one goal in 13 matches

The big question is how have we reached this stage where we are so far behind other comparable nations?

Not sure about that. If Morgan makes that tackle, we are (almost certainly) out the competition anyway. There would probably only have been time for the Hungary free kick so at best it’s a draw. 
 

Had to hope the defence do their job & get the ball back forward for one last effort. They didn’t and we paid for it. 
 

As said, we didn’t deserve anything from that game.

IMO, you need to look at it in isolation to decide his  best move. If Morgan makes that tackle we are in a better situation than we ended up in. Whether there would have been time for one last foray is debatable but we would have had time to organise. I think that would have been preferable.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing with the goal but they scored in the 11th minute of 10 minutes of stoppage time. The whistle was blown really quickly after they scored. 
 

Not sure he even had time to make a call but if he had tackled the boy, I would wager people would criticise that as well if the ref blew the whistle in the aftermath of the free kick.

Someone  stated on facebook, "Kicked out of Europe against our will… again".

In both cases, we deserve it. The team were cr@p and the nation was too feart to take the leap. But at least one of those decisions is reversable. VOTE SNP and demand self determination. Then we can vote for a Government of OUR choice to do OUR will.

He never mentioned that most of these passes were between our defenders and goalkeeper.
