We only play with one striker. Mullen can't even get on the pitch so if we bring in another that'll just be another striker to sit on the bench or are people thinking we need another one because Mullen hasn't impressed or scored yet?

Mullen can play as a striker, a no 10 or out wide. He can cover Reilly, Smith & Morgan.

A big striker to bring on if chasing the game would be a good option.

Sorry by he's no any good now that he is at his twilight - how many goals has he scored in the last 12 months? J & J want a goal scorer fit for the Premiership, they don't rate him and he is surplus to requirements - Sutton is old hat for the Championship - great when he was at his peak, but no use to us in 6 months time...

We can be nostalgic - but we need better to improve our team and squad - J & J have budgeted for better.. I keep hoping they land their top target, talks will continue... let's see

If Jack rated him he'd have featured far more often, hence us looking for another big fella...

I think that's the main point, "Jack" doesn't rate him, I happen to think he could easily be a useful addition to the squad, especially in this league.

At the end of the day no supporters opinion matters a fcuk, it's all down to the manager.

Brilliant idea. What about Paul Warhurst? Is he still alive?

One of the reasons I think Hippolyte would be a good option , if we,re chasing a game a long throw helps , especially if we can put three bit centre half's in the box . I don't think we need a new signing to strengthen our starting line up , but a new signing that would give us options just now , and who has the potential to improve would be helpful

We got a good few goals when Shankland was throwing a long ball in from the touchline.

Sutton isn't really an out and out target man. But he would still be a good option to bring on late in a game even alongside a target man when in need of a goal.

IMO its good to have at least 2 quality attacking options on the bench and all it takes is an injury or suspension to Sutton, Mullen or 1 of the 3 regular forwards and we'd be down to just 1. I think a new forward is a good idea.

There have been a few.

Derek Johnstone being the most obvious. Matt Elliott. Chris Sutton was used as a centre half at Norwich City. Paul Hegarty, Jack Copland and John Clark all started out as centre forwards. Even Barry McLaughlin made his Saints debut as a centre forward!

John Charles, of Leeds Utd, Juventus and Wales was used as both a centre half and a centre forward. 370 goals in 715 league appearances!

Going back further in time, the old Saints centre half, Willie Telfer, was utilised as a centre forward on a number of occasions.

If we do bring in another forward, it would be ideal if he was a bit of a dead ball specialist. This is an area that we've struggled with since Mallan left.

I was quite encouraged by Magennis' corners at Dumbarton, though. Perhaps he'll be the man!
