Attendances in the Championship

Hang your head in shame greater Paisley area!

During an exceptional season for itsr local team it could not muster a size of support to at least equal less populated areas like Dumfermline and Falkirk.

And don't give us the old cherry of being too close to the blue and green bigots.

However, this is not to detract from the quality of those that did manage to turn up.

The bias of the media towards the ugly sisters has reached new depths. In some papers (and also the BBC) the coverage for Celtic and Newco regularly top 90% of the total football coverage.

Unfortunately the old chestnut is true.

Only if we allow it to be.

Crowds are increasing3,000 to3,699 to 4,447 over the past 3 years.

Let's shout about that rather than bemoan our situation with our close neighbour clubs.

It's up to the club, management, team and supporters to create the buzz that brings people along.

My guess is  that we all know people who have a soft spot for  Saints but who have not been coming along regularly.

Great work by the young folks in W7 Great work by the club in encouraging kids.

Let's keep up the momentum and stop talking ourselves down.

And if any fans of other clubs want to watch their local team from time to time then come on down.

One town.. One team.

Attendance figures can be misleading for us. as visiting fans to Fort Greenhill Rd were in short supply this season as they knew fine well they were gonna get pumped silly, while our away support boosts other teams attendances by at least 20% / 40%.  next year should see a big increase in home attendances as teams like Celtic will fancy their chances of taking a point or something from the Fort  :)

Good point. I am guessing here that we took in total around 22400 away. 2500 to the Pars, 2600 to Falkirk, 2800 to Dundee U, 2700 to Livy, 3500 to Morton, 1800 to QOTS, 2000 to Dumbarton, 1500 to ICT and 3001 to Brechin (including faraway)     At home, the total away support was around 8000.

I d wonder what we need to do to get more home fans. In year 2000, we had around 8500 for the game that we won the league. In 2006 it was around 7500, and this year it was around 6500. We better stop winning this league or we will have nobody watching us soon

In addition to disputing the accuracy of the figures, I reckon we also need to take visiting supports into account.
Would be more accurate if we could get figures for home crowds only particularly as our travelling support this season has really boosted attendances.

You can.

In addition you can access the number of travelling support for each club.

Not surprisingly Saints topped the list for travelling fans.

Well done buds

However..... Tickets sold /issued for both home and away make up attendances and mirror not only the attractiveness of the home team but also the opposition.  Maximum attendances are maybe more fickle with derby games and league positions when games are played amongst other factors involved.
