Our average home attendance at Greenhill road , for matches  v Rangers  is 5'700 and for  Celtic is 5;900.
I assume that will rise if we give them both ends?

When we last played sevco,if I remember correctly, did we not give them behind both goals and W6+7?

If I have remembered correctly then we have actually cut their allocation for this one!!!

I must admit it was good to get it right up the "Family Stand" when Morgans late equaliser went in.:double

Exactly this. I would rather a full stadium full of Saints supporters but it is extremely unlikely to happen. The additional income will be used wisely to support our bid to get as high up the league as possible.

Maybe the more telling stat would be if the OF have sold out their allocation 9 times out of nine.

Im not convinced they have done. Especially given the differences in averages quoted earlier.

We could be swapping empty family seats for empty Bigot seats while spoiling our relationship which our own fans.

If our support stays the same the average crowd would rise by 800. Going by eastlandssaints figures, our home support was 3300 against Rangers and 3500 against Celtic.

Correct. Their crowd was normally 2400. That was increase to 4000 when they got both stand with W6 and W7. Now they will get 3200. And as you said, it was fun when Morgan shot went in

We are far from the only club to give normal home end seats away to OF fans, including the OF themselves.

Good post and as you say, both Rangers and Celtic fans get punted from their seats when they play each other.

Apart from the marquee games at the end of the season against Livi and Morton, would our family stand support last season have fitted into the empty seats in the West and Main?

I was going to say in previous games against the OF, but that wouldn’t be a fair comparison because for most of those games we would have been a struggling team. Next season we will still be a team on the up.

If the answer to the above is yes, then as much as it sticks in the craw as a matter of pride and principle, it would seem there’s nothing to see here.

800 at each of 3 games ain't going to bring in this oft quoted £100k in extra revenue. More like half that

Indeed.

Much ado about very little IMO.

If we hadn't been relegated three years ago, this would have been the norm by now anyway.

Also, if they can fill their much larger allocations at the likes of Thistle, 'Well and Killie, then there's no way that they won't fill both of the stands that they've been allocated at SMP.

The 100k figure represents extra money on top of away fans in the north stand only.

The 800 figure represents extra in comparison to giving them W6 & W7.

Can any of the people in favour of giving OF fans the South stand explain the £100k+ figure? If you believe the decision is justified by the significant extra income then presumably you believe it.

Lots of huge positives since the change of ownership but that doesn't mean there should be blind acceptance of everything.

The South stand holds roughly 1500. Times that by the 3 times we play them.

4500 x £25 = £112,500

That assumes that the figures stack up.

It would be interesting to know how much extra it will cost the club to police/steward this arrangement. The reduced cost STs also need to be factored in.

There will also be pay as you go punters who might have sat in the South Stand deciding to stay away, as they don't want to sit in W1 and W2 right next to the bigots.

Another thing the club should do is go round both stands after the games, take photos of every Green Brigade, Union Bears and Ultras stickers that the cnuts will slap on the seats - and they will - and send Dermott Desmond and Honest Dave King the bill for removing them. Seriously, they should, but I bet they don’t. Tony and Gordon don’t frequent our shoeboxes.

Our town our team, my arse.

Minus significant increase in police costs and income lost through reducing South stand season ticket prices. Also not every ticket will be £25 due to kids tickets.

The police costs won't be significantly more. The previous arrangement included segregating the west stand. That wouldn't have been cheap. This way there is no stand segregated.

There might be an increase on police costs but it won't be significant unless they are on a couple of grand each for a few hours work.

I'm afraid they will be more.  Many extra cops reqired to ensure order outside the stadium before the game and to ensure they stay in their seat until the home support has dispersed after.

Sauce for the goose.

Less 20% VAT, many concessions, stewarding, policing, loss of income from reduced price family stand season tickets, the incalculable cost of pissing off your own fans.

We will make more money but certainly not ‘a six figure sum’ quoted by the chairman, and in the longer term the message is definitely if you are a family you are very welcome but we’d prefer to sell tickets to bigots.

The atmosphere in the family stand is totally different to the rest of the ground and the club have been trying to cultivate it but obviously don’t want to look to the long term with this sort of decision.

If at best we make a maximum of £80k out of this decision then in reality that will allow us to bring in a player on less than a grand a week, by the time you add on national insurance, pension contributions, win bonuses etc. That is what a grand a week player actually costs.

So let’s not kid ourselves that this is going to make a massive difference to the playing budget. Having said that it could be used to contribute to the replacement Astro at Ralston but that is a whole different discussion!

The long and short of it is that this is an inconvenience for the fans who have to move seats.

Is this inconvenience to you to move seat really not worth the benefits it brings to the club?

Many of us travel all over the country to support St Mirren at awkward and difficult kick off times which I would imagine is a massive inconvenience to people - financially and logistically. But we do it for the love of the club.

Is it too much to ask for someone to sit 40 meters away from where they normally sit for 3 games?

The over reaction on this is ridiculous.
