St.Ricky
Warning - Statistics Ahead Scottish Football is on the way up. The attention surrounding the recent appointment of Steven Gerrard will bring more media coverage to the Scottish Game and add "bums on seats" in games home and away. Down our way we have our own "special one" in Jack Ross leading Saints back into the top league with a swagger last seen during Alex Ferguson's time. Great time to be a Saint Mirren supporter. Testing times ahead but to be embraced rather than feared. Some Stats Scottish football supporters are the most dedicated in Europe according to a report published today by The Association of European Professional Football Leagues (EPFL). The second edition of the Fan Attendance Report compares attendance figures across major domestic championships run by the EPFL from 2010/11 to 2016/17. The findings show that the SPFL ranks first in terms of average attendance expressed as a percentage of a country’s population, with 0.21% of Scots attending games compared to Norway and Switzerland (both 0.14%), the English Premier League (0.07%) and the Bundesliga in Germany (0.05%). The Ladbrokes Premiership was also the 10th-best attended division in Europe over that seven-year period, with an average crowd of 11,436.That places it higher than the average top-tier attendances of Switzerland, Portugal, Turkey, Belgium, Poland, Ukraine, Sweden, Denmark, Austria and Greece, countries all with larger populations than Scotland. SPFL Chief Executive Neil Doncaster said: “Football remains Scotland’s national sport and it is hugely encouraging to see this report confirm that SPFL fans are the most devoted in Europe. It is further sign that our game is in good health and we hope that trend will continue in the years ahead.” Read more at https://spfl.co.uk/news/article/spfl-fans-are-european-table-toppers/#4HwduZP785E680CP.99 2018/2019 Attendance Figures as at 29 April 2018 These are the average attendances of the teams. St.Ricky
We are currently at the wrong end of it but this season's Premiership looks like being something special. Hearts are 5 clear in front on 16 points. Three teams (Including Livingston) on 11. Second to 8th covered by a 3 point spread. Ninth to 11 that covered by a 2 point spread. Bottom club 4 behind. Tough isn't the word for it. Brutal might be the word. Game after game is throwing up surprises. Rangers ahead of Celtic for one. Livvy shock troops the other. Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen look like they might run the OF close in the Premiership with a possible shift in power between the big two within the mix. League cup ties coming up mid-week. Celtic will be keen to retain the first part of what could lead to the first part of their Treble, Treble bid. St Johnstone will be see the match as the shortest route to Silverware. Did they play a full team against Rangers or rest a few players?

I've said since the start of the season I think this season is an opportunity for someone else to win the league apart from Celtic. Rangers, Hearts, Hibs (or Hobs if you're PRicky) and Aberdeen could possibly threaten Celtics domination. This is as much down to Celtic not strengthening than the rest getting better but certainly makes a more interesting league.

At the top choose from Aberdeen, Celtic, Hearts, Hibs or Rangers. To make 6th Spot... Kilmarnock. To fight things out in the bottom six: Dundee, Hamilton, Livingston, Motherwell, St Johnston or St Mirren. Crowds continue to rise for league games. Every game is a big game. shull
Most of the Sky money will be wasted by the Premiership Clubs. Players and their Agents will receive most of it. And still none of the 10 Diddy Clubs will win the Top League. Would rather have Sportscene on TV every Saturday night and no live matches apart from Cup Finals and Play Off Deciders. Wonder if Clubs will reduce admission prices with all the extra income they are gonnae get ? Eh naw.
