Great Tasting Lager.

Recommended Posts

Menabrea another Italian lager is really good. Becoming more popular on draught as tennants are now making it.

Caeser Augustus, from Williams Brothers, a lager / IPA Hybrid is great. Also gluten free I think.

Sounds good Tony , the only gluten free one l have tried is the Perroni Nasto Azzuro which taisted better than the common /garden variety. .

That wouldn't be difficult.

Currently working my way through "craft" Pils and Helles beers.

(Incidentally a lot of beers which are marketed as craft aren't really, as the breweries are subsidiaries of bigger breweries. However, I wouldn't let that put you off as they taste good. :guinness)

Most of them are based on German recipe of hops, yeast and barley, which makes a clean refreshing brew. Drink very well chilled and they make for the perfect summer brew.

Tempest Easy Livin' Pils and West brewer Schonborn Pils both from Aldi are very good.

Both the Camden brewery Hells and Pils are very good. Both in Waitrose.

Meantime London lager is another decent brew. In Waitrose.

Haven't ever been the biggest fan of Brewdog, but their IPA and Kingpin Pilsner are impressive. Unfortunately the latter seems to have disappeared into the ether. If anyone can locate some, then let me know!

I'm not into these over hopped flowery concoctions that seem to be the hipsters favourites these days, so none of the beers mentioned fall into that category.

Also, as an aside, both Meantime and Brewdog do excellent stouts, if anyone is interested.

If I encounter any new ones I'll keep you updated.

I was drinking it the other day - I even mentioned it on here. Must have been what gave you the idea. default_smile.png

I like the Heather Ale (can't remember who makes it) that Aldi sometimes sells. Not seen it for a while though and it disappears rapidly off the shelf's, so I'm obviously not the only one who likes it.
Heather ale is Fraoch by the aforementioned Williams brewery. Available in Tesco and Waitrose IIRC. It is a nice beer. On a similar note the honey beers available are very good. Just like a lager with a hint of honey on the palate. Waggledance, Honey dew and one from Sainsburys whose name I forget.

That's the one. Never in Tesco (though i might be now :) ) and where da fook is the nearest Waitrose?

Newton Mearns.

It's Asda that you'll find it, not Tesco.

I'm in that many supermarkets that I get confused.:whistle

I’m enjoying Curious Brew lager and IPA. From an English winemaker who uses champagne yeast to make beer. Tastes great IMHO. Very crisp.

I bought a bottle of it yesterday.

Looking forward to sampling it tomorrow evening.

I shall report back.

Are you any good? default_smile.png

At football that is, I have no interest in your prowess at dominoes or shuffleboard.
I like to think so, like a Paisley version of Baresi, however at 6"1' I'm too short for our new signing policy and sadly the deal is off.

Just had a bottle of the "Curious brew".

Very nice indeed. Good call Poz.

Currently trying out peroni gran riserva rossa (5.2%).

This is a "grown up" beer (which begs the question as to why I'm drinking it) and has to be savoured.

Quite a complex malty depth to it. It tastes "strong".

A few of these and it would be good night Vienna!

Fraoch Heather Ale?  It's very seasonal as the heather is gathered at a particular time of year (late summer i think) and production is not continuous.

Was it the Curious Brew lager or IPA? Both are very nice. If you go to Majestic Wine, in Bearsden, down from the Waitrose near Sevco TrainIng Park - they sell Curious Brew in cases. I’ve got a case of each in the garage fridge.... lovely jubbly.
