I fully appreciate what JR did for us. Money talks unfortunately.

Money has always talked. The real reason he took the job was lack of belief in his own ability to manage at a higher level. Fergie was offered the Aberdeen job , and a huge increase in salary with us when we were still in the 1st division , but he believed in our club , and he believed in himself , knowing he could move on at anytime when it suited him, so he waited another 18 months , and never looked back !

Speculative, at best, utter trash at worst, probably the latter IMO.

Not at all , if he was confident of strengthening our squad and having a reasonable season he  would have stayed and then would have had the choice of some real decent jobs down south , but no , he would have jumped at Barnsley too for the dosh !

There is no point comparing the two. Fergie managed at a time money didn't completely dominate football and Scottish football could hold its own against the rest, and where loyalty was still a thing. Clubs weren't even considering Alan Archibald after doing a great job of taking Partick to the Top 6. One year later and that definitely won't happen now. JR would have needed something spectacular to get attention from bigger clubs than Ipswich and Sunderland. 99% would have taken the opportunity presented to Jack.

Good riddance anyway , he served his purpose in doing half the job ie getting us back to our rightful place , he welched on his responsibilities to keep us there after that !

Is the issue not so much about Jack Ross being presented with job offers which few of us would turn down and more to do with Jack Ross / his agent applying for the jobs he was interviewed for whilst declaring himself happy at St Mirren and a good fit for the club ? Apparently Jack was desperate to leave for a while, despite results, winning promotion and having everyone at the club pulling in the same direction.

And which manager in the world would have rejected that offer from Sunderland to stay with us?
