St. Mirren v Sunderland, friendly 21/7/18

Recommended Posts

Ironically, we started the second half looking good. Plenty of possession and good movement. Flynn adding a bit of skill to procedings.

Then... Slack defending for goal three.

Great save by Rogers but so slow to react to the loose ball which was buried.

Like the first half, since the goal, mostly Sunderland possession.

We have been in the bottom tier a few times.

Came here because nobody really talking about this friendly on P&B.

And you two fine gentlemen have reminded me why I don't come here any more.

OMG...
Turns out we replaced Sammy with one of the stewards at half time.

Only explanation for goal 4.

Guy showed good control to get the ball... But his nearpost shot was weak and should have been an easy save.

Had the steward in goals bothered to move, he might well have saved it but for some reason he inexplicably stood still and watched it roll past him!

Big Ross Stewart on for the unimpressive (mind you he had little service) Trialist.

Fair enough.

In other words, Reid nearly blew his chance of the big time. Luckily for him he linked up with Graham Potter and they had that cracking year at Ostersunds. Still, Reid may have thrived from taking the Swansea job as his own and be further ahead in his career. Realistically, his only chance of an EPL job would be as a direct replacement for Potter.

I'm sure if Billy Reid was interested in applying for top jobs as a manager in his own right he might point out that he has a decent track record over a long period of time - doing well at Clyde, and then getting Hamilton promoted, finishing 7th with Hamilton, won manager of the year, brought through a load of young players who were sold on for a huge profit, and has worked as an assistant in Sweden and got experience in European competition there, and now working in the English Championship.

The trialist up front was Martin Paterson. Looked shite

Paterson's last good season was 10 years ago - if you judge good seasons by not being farmed out on loan and scoring more than 10 league goals a season as a striker.

Dundee game will be the marker to what is ahead.

f**k that. If we go into the Dundee game with this side we'll get murdered. We're f**king losing 6-0.

Can you honestly say we should 'sit and wait to see what happens'.

There is an absolute lack of f**king basic ability there and its seriously worrying. We've regressed massively since May. That's not up for debate. It's a shambles.
