Scared him that much he’s away to be Livvy manager.

Hope he gets it. Player / Manager? He could march into his own office, berate himself for substituting  himself in the 70th minute, argue with himself that he’s worth a starting spot, refuse to guarantee it to himself, then he could sneak out to talk to the press about how badly he’s treating himself.

What we have so far....              https://www.stmirren.com/teams/first-team/first-team-squad

DEFENDERS....                                                                          MIDFIELD.....                                                           FORWARDS......                                                                GOALKEEPERS.........
Jack Baird                                                                                    Jeff King                                                                     Cody Cooke                                                                        Craig Samson
Adam Eckersley                                                                        Ryan Flynn                                                                Myles Hippolyte                                                              Ross Stewart
Gary McKenzie                                                                         James Kererman                                                    Danny Mullen
Paul McGinn                                                                               Jordan Kirkpatrick                                               Cammy Smith
Josh Heaton                                                                                Kyle Magennis                                                        Ross Stewart
 Ben Cameron                                                                            Stephen McGinn
                                                                                                            Ian McShane

With players like forward Ross Stewart, and Midfielder Jordan Kirkpatrick probably going out on loan again, The squad looks very light in all departments especially in defence. I would go with another 'keeper, a couple of defenders and a couple of forwards,  Thoughts?

Looks like youngsters Ethan Erhahon and Conor O’Keefe will be in the first team squad too.

Samson should only be our back up keeper in this league. If he remains No1 we will lose tons of goals. He was flinging balls into the net for motherwell 2 seasons ago hence why he ended up with us. If we have any aspirations of staying up we need a new goalkeeper.

Samson was fantastic last season did he not break a club record for clean sheets, he did . Oh wait the championship was shit last season :o

Why would a guy start flinging the ball into the net as you put it in the premier league but not do that in the championship. Is there a special soapy ball in the premier !!!!

It's a well known fact that Samson didn't adapt well to the new Mitre Boomerang ball. Apparently when you throw the ball out it comes speeding back to you when you least expect it!   :P

He's hardly had a great time of it with any club in the premier.

Be a lot busier in the premier aswel, more chance of a howler. (Of which there were a few last season)

I think we do need to think about another keeper. Having young Stewart as backup would be very risky given his lack of any experience even in the Championship. I would also like to see us sign someone who can challenge and/or replace Samson in the starting lineup as it is a hugely important position, which needs us to have options in the event of Samson going through a rough patch. He had a few howlers last season, but as we were running away with the title they didn't matter in the end - next season every point will be a prisoner, so turning defeats into draws and draws into defeats could be the difference between play offs and mid-table tranquility.

ETA I am aware that Samson made a number of fantastic stops across a number of matches, which contributed hugely to our title win, not least the penalty save against Utd, but his prowess at cross balls is very questionable, which could cost us in the Premiership.

Correct.

As good a season as he had we definitely require a 'keeper who can be more consistent at a higher level IMO.

A very difficult position to fill though.
