Who'd would you like to see lead the line this season, new striker imminent!

Why not, we could make a million from McGinn. 5k a week would be 260k a year. We can afford that if the right player and signed on a free transfer

Irrespective of whether we can afford it or not we shouldn't be paying it.

I'm old enough to recall the last time we had some spare cash and Fitzy in a position of influence.

I get what you’re saying but to spend 260k and still have 740k profit isn’t a huge risk

It is a massive risk to spend anything approaching that on a player.

It would also likely be a two year deal so there's half a million. Hardly intelligent spending of any funds incoming.

We simply won't, nor should we, spend anything close to £5k a week on a player.

Not getting excited.

Eric Bunnet Bunnet was a marquee signing and look how that turned out.

Hope I'm pleasantly surprised.

I got a £14 Taxi fare from him. :D

My worry is that it would cause a lot of unrest in the changing room. Imagine you brought in someone that earns twice as much as the highest earner in the changing room and they don't perform?

And the other players all within the same wage bracket. They would be pissed off.

1 guy getting double what the rest get could seriously damage morale.

... just saw hambuds post above. Agreed though.

What must some of the players at Man Utd be thinking about Paul Pogba?:whistle

It happens from time to the time at most clubs.

I suppose it's a risk that you take. Although Rooney is way out of our wage bracket IMO, if the figures quoted are true. Even with any McGinn related windfall.

That's more than twice what was paid to Sir Thommo.

At least with someone like Rooney, the players could respect what he's achieved in terms of his ability and goal scoring, and that he's played at a higher level with a good reputation.

With Stokes, whose behaviour both on and off the pitch has been somewhat less than impeccable of late, that would be a very difficult job indeed to justify such a gulf in wages.

I see Mikey Johnston of the Green bigots is considering a loan move.

Seems highly rated as a forward/winger and scored v Standard Liege on Saturday.

Maybe not a "marquee" signing, but could certainly be a useful acquisition on loan.

Possible replacement for Morgan?

Would be more than happy if he came to Saints. Seems very highly thought of.

Right Stubbs. The World Cup is finished. Gie’s a marquee signing. France are already heading home with the cup in their hand luggage so what’s stopping you. Not nearly good enough, get this dud out of our club. Always said we should have went for Yogi.
