Saints v Celtic, Friday 14th September

Recommended Posts

FT 0-0

Not quite sure what to make of that. Would certainly have taken a point before the game so in that sense, good. Then they were down to 10 men for 50 minutes...

Second half was quite a strange spectacle. We played deeper and deeper and spent most of it with 11 men behind the ball. Cause Celtic only had 9 attacking players so they didn’t create much. Strange stalemate.

On one hand it was certainly much improved from the last few games and it’s a good point, on the other we won’t get many better chances to beat Celtic.

Agree 100% there chap. If the plan was to park the bus second half it worked, very risky though, but all credit to the Saints though.
I honestly don’t believe any of us would have predicted that score after the Hearts result. Excellent start for OK, he’s probably pinching himself right now.

truth be told....shocking 2nd half

In what way?

The most important thing tonight was to rebuild some confidence in the team and actually defend properly.

Great performance in both halves from us defensively.

Need to work on creativity though.

Excellent point and performance. Great energy. Every player gave 100%.

Delighted with the start Oran has made. Hard to believe these are the same players Stubbs had at his disposal.

Good foundation but can't get carried away. Feel goid factor has returned.

I said to the missus before the game that the best we could hope for was that we'd leave the field without our confidence being shot to hell. We've done that, and more.

Anton Ferdinand never knew most of his team-mates names and was not match fit.

Edwards never knew most of his team-mates names and has just arrived.

Our new boss was making a huge step up to full time management and as above, hardly even knows the players names.

We were playing the Champions with top quality players.

We have been shipping four in under thirty minutes and have been out before it’s half-time.

Our record against that mob is hardly stellar, a 7-0 gubbing would not have been unthinkable.

... and we got a point. Personally, I’d have been happy had we just looked a bit more organised and had tried our best. Bloody great point...Sutton, you wank.

Where was Brock Madsen tonight? We were in need of a fresh striker and our only option was to throw a left back and a centre mid upfront. Says it all about the likes of Cody Cooke and co sitting in the stand. Let’s hope this striker we’ve had on trial is good because we can’t go on relying on Mullen and no other. Great to see us battling hard for a point though

Most important thing for me about tonight is that we look like we have a defence again. Looked really solid and loads of spirit being shown with bodies being thrown in the way of shots etc.

Sure you could argue that it feels like a bit of a missed opportunity and perhaps we could have been a little more adventurous in the second half, but after the guff we’ve been treated to so far this season, I’m certainly not going to complain.

Absolutely fantastic point

And for Oran Kearney to organise the team to get a clean sheet against Celtic is incredible considering how abysmal we have looked defensively this season.

Good start from Ferdinand, looked gubbed at half time but will get even better. And Jack Baird looks a different player when played alongside an older head.

Fantastic

Brilliant performance from all. Thought Ferdinand strolled through the game.

We were by far the better team for the first half hour or so. I actually thought the sending off seemed to work against us. Second half we sat in too deep and let them come at us. In particular Boyata seemed to have the freedom of Paisley when he had the ball. Got to say brown was immense for the tic.

All in all a fantastic debut for both manager and new central defender and a fantastic performance from all our lads.

one question I would ask is what position was Coulson playing when he came on? Flumuxed me.
