Ross Stewart to Ross County

Being reported on P&B by a Ross County fan who generally knows his stuff that we've accepted a bid for Ross Stewart according to their local press.

Quite disappointed if this is the case.

Very disappointed in fact. Especially given that we're 48 hours away from the league opener and don't appear to have anyone coming in yet.

If he goes, this would mean our search for a centre forward becomes a search for two.

The only way this could be a good thing is if its to free up funds for an imminent incoming replacement Stubbs values more

If true that is total lunacy - leaves Mullen and Smith (who isn't a striker) plus the guy Stubbs signed from the English non league who he has placed BEHIND Stewart in the pecking order up to now.  Clearly Stubbs doesn't really fancy him but there is a player there imo and should have been put out on loan at worst.

In simple terms , we let a young guy like Ross who has a bit about him leave the squad , and have Cody "Who" Cook still with us , this whole scenario isn't going to end well. We may well bring in a decent replacement , but there is next to no depth in the squad as it is.

I suspect the search has always been for two.  I wouldn't want to go with Stewart, Mullen and a.n.other.  Hopefully this means one in immediately.

As I keep telling everyone, he has put in a transfer request

I believe that to be correct , but Jackson said the other night that he had "potential" , so not only are we letting players go who Stubbs thinks are duds , we're now letting some go that they think have potential  too ! What next , Magennis to Sunderland on deadline day ?

Happy provided we replace potential with proven quickly.

Is it the new regime , or does his dissatisfaction go back to last season when he got farmed out ?

Last season was the making of Ross, his goals securing Alloas promo, so he was also part of a success story. He has a 2 year deal, Alloa can not afford him, and looks like Loan out is certainly delayed until we get someone in.

Ross has his own reasons, probably realizing that he will fall way down pecking order when Stubbs recruits. I would def say Championship is his present level, but he has def improved under Jim Goodwin

We need to trust the manager to do his job.

He couldn't get a game last season in the Championship but now he is apparently the great saviour.

You couldn't make it up.

Sometimes a club needs to keep players with potential  , a word used by Jackson to describe Stewart the other night. Remember , he was brought in as a "project" !
