League within a league

this whole fan / supporter thing is just divisive nonsense, trying to put a definition on it is a complete waste of anyone's time, by one of said definitions, despite attending matches since I was 7 years old, because I don't have a season ticket and don't go to all matches home and away I am a fan and not a supporter, don't know whether this is intentional arrogance or just a failure to appreciate that the depth of feeling someone has for their club can't be measured in purely material expenditure.

Does your daughter get in for free?

She hasn't paid one of her own pennies to the Team she has supported for over 6 years.

I never paid a penny to watch the Team I supported from the age of 6 till the age of 17.

Even now decades later, I paid as little as possible to support my Team.

I would support them forever even if I got complimentary tickets every week.

That would be fab.

You can support a Club any way you like.

All supporters.

None better or worse than any other.

Might even mean a dude sitting by his Tranny on a Saturday listening for every Saints score update and praying only for his Team to win.

Still a supporter.

I agree with this wholeheartedly.

Except for the obvious fact that I am clearly better than you. ^_^

I wouldn't thank you for a complimentary ticket.  I like to pay my way,  always have.

Why would I expect your daughter to have paid when you have been taking her to the games?

Similarly,  why would I expect you to have paid when you were a child going to games with your Dad?

But somebody paid.

Well done to your dad and yourself by the way.

Tell that to St Mirren's bank manager.  They will be pleased to hear that.

Should adjust the budget to suit.

Also, I would never refuse a Complimentary Ticket. St Mirren have been ripping me off since the 1990's.

They owe me big time and owe every other fan that has come through the Love Street and Greenhill Road Turnstiles.

Also ripped off via programmes, merchandise and fecking pies, etc.

COMPLIMENTARY TICKET FOR LIFE PLEASE.

You have a thing about the prices.  I can tell.  I'm quick that way.

Personally I abhor being given freebies.  No such thing as a free lunch.

There you go.

Pay your way or stay away is the motto.

Then you are entitled to question the quality you get in return for your money and, even more important for me,  your time.

BLA BLA reams of Cr*p for pages and pages...

How bored are you guys?

You certainly know how to bore others....

Give it a rest  .. .. .  .:hammer

Threads are supposed to be about a specific topic or at least have some sort of tentative link  …. it would be good to try that...

In the meantime - start a thread called Supporters, fans, definitions and drivel

Dominated it for years and years-just like the OF.

Maybe you guys should move into the Champions League of Forums

That's because it's a financial transaction without emotional involvement. A customer whom I'm sure you treated well as return business Is very welcome everywhere.  Whereas for a fan who becomes an active supporter there is financial and emotional attachment. However each customer Supports your standard of living.

You didnt answer my question from earlier so I will repeat it.

What about volunteers who help the club out?

There is no financial attachment.

Are they fans or supporters?

You are digging yourself a hole here because for some strange reason you want to put a label on certain supporters to make them appear less supportive of the club than yourself. In this case, F man is your target.

When the only people backing you up are ged62 and IOBS you really ought to smel the coffee bud.
