I think the loan market for a number of clubs this season highlights a major issue in football. The ability for big clubs to sign-up so many promising players and save on the cost by loaning them out. This is only used as a vehicle to increase revenue in selling a lot of these players and isn't in the interest of football.

IMO this whole aspect of football needs regulation. There should include:

- Maximum squad sizes across all clubs

- Maximum youth squad sizes across older age group youngsters (Say 17-21)

- Maximum numbers of players a club can loan out in a season

This would mean clubs not having such big squads and smaller teams being able to sign players and not just loan them. In turn benefiting if the players turn out to be quality through compensation/transfers. It would also help bridge the gap between clubs and stop such a monopoly of finance and power at the highest level.

Looking at the highest level for example, Chelsea have a shocking 34 players out on loan, a first team squad of 28 (not all will be EPL registered) and 49 youth players at least aged 17 or over.

Clearly we are free to use Danny Rogers as a No.2 but let's see how often Stubbs drops the loan signings between now and Christmas or see how often he goes with all the fans selecting Coulson as a left midfielder rather than a left back.

It's not unusual for some parent clubs to insist loanees play when fit or the club pay all the wages if they are fit but not selected.

You can put forward as much speculation as you like, the fact is there's no basis for it in reality. Hence, the source is your mind...

Yeah I would agree with this. Artificial shortages of players certainly drives prices up. We see that in all industries. The housing market BTL scam is a classic example affecting both rental prices and purchase prices.

There seems to be plenty of basis for saying McInnes hasn't insisted Rogers starts every game.

Can you name a loanee apart from Rogers who hasn't been in the staring XI or been brought on as a sub since they signed? It's also quite normal for parent clubs to insert clauses such as loanees can't play against them, and in some cases, insist they get game time as part of their loan agreement.
