Yes but did I put up a pole saying the board want this but Oran wants that. No so why not step back and stop trying to point score. Why not get a dog then you can have a 10min break from. BAWA. Christ we all need it.

I've got four dogs and take them up a mountain basically twice a day. Believe me, my best time is spent well away from here.

There's a valid point here in whether the appointment is necessary for a club of our size...

I think it's a good idea personally - takes a bit of heat off the gaffer and allows more time to concentrate on building up the confidence of the team. No question there's a lot of work needing done!

Fair enough then it should be who Oran wants.

I would qualify that by suggesting that he plays a fully involved part in the recruitment and selection process, then the panel come to an agreed position based on picking the best candidate for the role.

The issue for me is both parties going to the media to state their picks. Jeez hasnt the board at least learned from their mistakes their by leaking their intentions to the media?

You missed out the bit about no one talking about two recruits for any role. But hey!

That's because I genuinely don't think they are...I think Nicholl is being talked about as backroom staff and McPherson is being talked about for the "additional/new" role.

At least Wee Anxious is saying the sensible stull:

From the Mail:

QUEEN’S PARK head coach Gus MacPherson insists that it is extremely premature to talk about him leaving his role at the Spiders and heading back to St Mirren.

The 49-year-old has been linked with the job of technical director at the Paisley club, where he was manager for nearly seven years, and the Hampden outfit have given permission for talks to take place. MacPherson, who left St Mirren in 2010, has yet to meet with new Saints boss Oran Kearney as well as chairman Gordon Scott and chief executive Tony Fitzpatrick, and he wants to hear their views on what the role entails before moving forward. MacPherson said: ‘St Mirren asked Queen’s Park for permission to speak to me on Tuesday and that has been granted. I do not know much more than that and what I have read after the story appeared.’ ‘I do not know Oran and I have never spoken to him. I do know St Mirren as a club, but any move would depend on what Oran wants and what St Mirren want from the role.

‘The manager has to be comfortable about getting on with the job he wants to do and I do not know what any role supporting that entails.’ The timing of St Mirren’s request could hardly have come at a worse time for Queen’s as it arrived just a couple of hours after they learned they would be losing their home as part of the Scottish FA’s deal to buy Hampden.

MacPherson will hold off making a decision, as he explained: ‘I do know what I would be giving up and I have turned jobs down in the past, so nothing has been agreed. Hopefully talks take place between everyone involved soon.’

I cant for the life of me imagine why someone of Nicholl's standing would leave an international set up to be simply a coach for us? It makes no sense, the guy trumps Gus in every dept as to current suitability for the role of TD.

Unless he does it part time, like he has been for years and Darren Jackson was doing with U19's, and like he was when No2 to Hartley at a bottom of the championship Falkirk and therefore may not necessarily mean he has to give anything up.

Your second part is a whole different argument but certainly wasn't what you were driving at earlier.

Reading ok article it sounds like he wants Nicholls in his coaching staff and the club want Gus as TD that could help OK just concentrate on the team with his staff and Gus do the other stuff like scout reports on teams player's whatever then take it to OK and advise him.

Spot on Elvis.

In the same way you can always tell a Ricky thread from the title, you can always tell a LPM thread too.

So you cant tell them by the author thats printed by the title???

silly me, that would mean you then couldnt go on to them, to say how pointless they are because that would just make anyone who did that look like a tit!

I'd guess, since the Chairman has already stated that his reason for looking at a Technical Director role was to have some form of constant going forward, that it would therefore not make a whole lot of sense to have the manager alone choose the person who takes up that position?

Quote

“Because of what’s happened this season we’ve looked again at how we run things and we’re planning to bring in a technical director, who will be a constant presence at the club,” he said.

“When Jack went to Sunderland he left a big hole and we had a new guy coming in and signing a lot of players and relying on other people to tell him how good they were.

The board will almost certainly be here longer than the manager.

No St.Mirren manager since the war has lasted any longer than the 7 year stint that, ironically, Gus MacPherson managed between 2003 and 2010.

You have completely lost me with that gibberish?

First of all I’m not sure what format you view this forum in, but the one I use the thread title is in big bold lettering with the author below in much smaller, fainter greyed out font. Your attention is drawn to the title long before the author. In fact the vast majority of the time I open a thread title without even noticing who the author is. My point was that I can usually tell yours by either the negative or incendiary tone of the title.

The gobbledygook in your second para is lost on me? Something about saying your post was pointless which I didn’t do. Perhaps you meant something else. Perhaps if you’d written it in English it would have been clearer.

Didn't JN combine his NI duties with his recent spell at Rangers.?

I don’t get that though Div. Why does creating a TD role provide continuity? What if the TD is doing a shite job and needs to get sacked? Why are we assuming that it will be the manager who would be getting the tin tack?

In fact if Oran is in as Manager and Gus comes in as TD, I know who my cash would be on (if any) for doing the shite job.
