Much as I agree it would cost a whole lot more that £500,000 to bulldoze the piazza. I would guess if you were buying out the existing businesses and offices (and student accomodation) and replacing it with something else then you would not have much change out of £100 million

Can't see it being pulled down now which is a shame so much could be done with the river banks.

I thought the pension fund sold it to the same company that owns the Paisley Centre?Would be better relocating piazza businesses into Paisley centre and revamping pizza by opening up the river and demolishing car park etc. The students in gilmour House would love it. You can't just relocate businesses like that on a whim. Most of them will have tenancy agreements for a start. Most importantly, if these businesses had wanted to be in the Paisley centre they would be there already.

I can see the bright idea 50 years ago, ‘if we cover over the river we can build shops’ being attractive but in reality now the river should be an asset to the town and it is largely hidden by concrete. Unfortunately these things tend to come in spurts, A lot of the time sparked of by gang feuds and vendettas. Regardless of what is behind it, it makes people feel less inclined to socialise in the town which is exactly what the old place does not need at this time. It happened in the 80s when Glasgow polis clamped down on drug activity and only succeded in pushing it out to Paisley , Coatbrdge , m`well etc & again in the mid-late 90s. Hopefully this gets nipped in the bud .
