Well just bulldoze the f**king Piazza then and give the other 99.5m quid to Oran Kearney.

Much as I agree it would cost a whole lot more that £500,000 to bulldoze the piazza.  I would guess if you were buying out the existing businesses and offices (and student accomodation) and replacing it with something else then you would not have much change out of £100 million

Was the Piazza not sold to some pension fund years ago  I'm sure I read that. Can't see it being pulled down now which is a shame so much could be done with the river banks.

I thought the pension fund sold it to the same company that owns the Paisley Centre?
Would be better relocating piazza businesses into Paisley centre and revamping pizza by opening up the river and demolishing car park etc.
The students in gilmour House would love it.

I didn't say anything about buying anyone out....

You can't just relocate businesses like that on a whim.

Most of them will have tenancy agreements for a start. Most importantly, if these businesses had wanted to be in the Paisley centre they would be there already.

Do you need to take everything literally?

Coal board pension fund owned it at one point, maybe still do

The coal board sold it a number of years ago but another institutional investor bought it.

I can see the bright idea 50 years ago, ‘if we cover over the river we can build shops’ being attractive but in reality now the river should be an asset to the town and it is largely hidden by concrete.

Use the money for crime prevention :

Is Paisley the most violent town in Scotland ?

This weekend just gone :

3 stabbed & another with other injuries : Stock Street ( Pockets Bar area )

1 slashed on face : High Street

1 left unconscious after a doing : New St ( near Viennas )

1 left with severe facial injuries the night before these Argyle St

This was last weekend, but no shortage of stories like this from Paisley every week sadly

Unfortunately these things tend to come in spurts,  A lot of the time sparked of by gang feuds and vendettas. Regardless of what is behind it, it makes people feel less inclined to socialise in the town which is exactly what the old place does not need at this time.:(

It happened in the 80s when Glasgow polis clamped down on drug activity and only succeded in pushing it out to Paisley , Coatbrdge , m`well etc  & again in the mid-late 90s.

Hopefully this gets nipped in the bud .
