If it means improved performances and results then all appointments are good

That's yet to be seen and I really hope his appointment assists but, as the old adage goes. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, no matter the seamstress.

(Well, the last bit's mine.)

We’ve lost Morgan, Davis, Smith & Reilly

As replacements we have Hamill, Ferdinand, McGinn and Jackson

The rest of the Championship winning squad is still here. Are they a sow’s ear?

Given the fact OK, (and GM), has said that we need to get rid and bring in in January, certainly closer to trotter than textile.

Any chance we could borrow that tanker the Russians used to block the sea route near Crimea?
Might be useful in a few games.  Anyway.. Jimmy will bring a steadfast approach to defending.
Steadfast or Staunch?

Yes, and we have probably still have less back-room staff than other teams around us.  Accies for example employ 2 x physios and 2 x sports scientists.  We have 1 of each.
Given the state of accies pitch, I can understand why.

Could be both. There will be no surrender. That's for sure. (All old jokes I know). Welcome Jimmy.

Perfectly calm. I just don't constantly employ smilies to augment my point, which is the fact we are trying to improve the playing staff from a relatively negative position so I would think, due to  priorities, any funds should be diverted in that direction.

Would you not think due to the car crash that was our summer recruitment, a change in tactic might be a good thing in hiring someone to try make sure we don’t sign a bunch of duds again? On top of that, how anyone can be critical about OK bringing in one staff member, I’m not sure.

Exactly. Every manager we've had in the last 20 years has brought in their own staff.

Just as a matter of interest, how many coaches / assistants did JR have ?

Not sure, though Jack had requested additional coaching staff going into this season before he left.  Whether Gus' role was thought of back then too or was created off the back of Stubbs' disaster period i am unsure, though it would probably make more sense it was due to the latter with his transfer dealings.

It’s not really, relatively speaking. Same numbers as both Hamilton and Livi

Perhaps. I do know I want it to succeed.

OK is entitled to bring in whoever we can afford but I just wonder if we can AND bring in the quality of player we need.

We have a technical director as the "change in tactics" to ensure better signings.

Only two names off  fielding the full eleven there.

my only qualm with all this is the laxk of forethought in how the differing overbearing personalities will actually work together? I think we are more top  heavy on egos, than actual numbers. Cant see now what wee anxious adds to the mix other than another differing opinion?

Why do we have to have similar ?

Who says ?

Do we have to have the same type of pitch as them also ?

Anyway, we have had a goalie Coach for years and it never helped Samson get any better.

Waste of money.

Never said we do, jut generally the way things go. Clubs similar sizes have similar strategies.

These roles do add value, whether you can see it or not.  football has moved on in the last 50 years.

nice wee bit of fishing with the Sammy comment. Looking forward to him rightly going into our HOF due to his great service to SMFC.

I know we have moved on.

Most Clubs were part time around 50 years ago.

Dunfermline, Kilmarnock, Dundee, Hibs etc were doing well in European Competitions.

Salaries for full time players were similar to the average working man, maybe slightly over.

Gate prices were decent for everybody.
