They have certainly put a lot of money into British cycling and our first of 3 British TDF winners and as cycling teams go they certainly have been one of the most successful ones . Will another British sponsor wade in and keep the team going?  One thing is certain and that is Les Francaises will be loving this news . .

Now for today's important story!

Team Sky will cease to exist as broadcaster pulls sponsorship.

Thats a blow to the British pharmaceutical and express parcel delivery industries. A tough pill to swallow.

Dave |Brailsford was apparently surprised when S*y said they were pulling out of the sponsorship deal . Brailsford is already seeking a new sponsor for his team hoping to have a deal in place before the 2019 TDF. He admits that it will likely be a foreign company they get even though the stars of the current set up race under a British license. .

I think it's to do with the Murdoch's losing control of Sky - it was James (son of Rupert) who was the one behind the cycling sponsorship.

Another reason might be , aerodynamics. .

Cycling is all about aerodynamics now since riders having weight restrictions on bikes . They found that if you send a rider out in the kind of conditions we are currently experiencing in shorts and short sleeves , they get goosebumps which are better for the rider areodynamics (boundary layer effect or something) . Though sadly no one has found a way to make the goosebumps permanent ( though there has now been speculation that keeping riders frightened by telling them the sponsor has pulled out might just work). .

Not according to the ST’s sports journalist David Walsh, who mocked the sky attempt to distract from the pursuit of truth using the pathetically petty sex angle to distract daddies from pursuit of the truth.
