MIbbie, as PLENTY of supporters have posted, he WAS a decent player.

Probably more to do with playing in a pish team, Shankland got similar treatment from the narrow minded. :byebye

Did you ever see Shankland play for St Mirren?

Shamkland was good the 1st time with us, poor the 2nd time, and then was even more poorer with Morton. Got his finger out and was excellent with Ayr and Dundee Utd up to now. Also he was only on loan to us both times.

It makes you wonder what happened with him. Looks as though it was probably an attitude problem with him and he finally realised that he was going down the leagues rapidly and throwing away the opportunity of a lifetime that most of us on here can only dream about.

I’m sure we all knew some guys growing up who were blessed with fitba skills, but did not have the desire or work ethic required to make it to the top.

Where I live in Elderslie there are two full size pitches, and during the school holidays and weekends they are empty. In our day we could only dream of having access to such pitches - with fecking goals too! We would play in the streets or waste ground until it was too dark too see.

Kids nowadays are the PlayStation Generation. Shankland would have been part of that generation. I don’t think we will ever see players with the skills and determination of Law, Baxter, Bremner, wee Jimmy Johnstone, McNeil, Dalglish, Souness, Jordan, McQueen, Hansen, Cooper, Archie Gemmill, and Mark Yardley again in this country.

Any players coming through any natural skill they have would probably be coached out of them anyway.

Modern fitba is pish.
