I would rather have the Away seats empty than take their money.

Aye we know but you don't have to balance the books.

It would be interesting if the whole support, not a handful on this forum, could be canvased to get a true picture of this situation?

^^^^^^^ This.
It MIGHT help if ANY alternatives were made public.
Filling these spaces is not an alternative, we simply don't, and are unlikely to have, the numbers so could there be other avenues that would take up this "6 figure" number?
How much of this "6 figure" number would have to be replaced to stop the current situation?
Do away with the £2 pot vote & just give the lot to the club on the proviso, The family stand stays the St Mirren family stand?

Books would balance if budgeted correctly.

And that should form part of the discussion. GLS and Tony could let us know the ramifications of that in a smisa meeting and we could discuss all the options like just giving them one stand, having a target for South stand tickets so we don't give them it if reached. All things people have mentioned here but our rep on the board doesn't mention and instead just spouts the party line about money.

I would rather have the Away seats empty than take their money.

Sounds reasonable to me but it's not my money.

The club could easily realise a tidy sum of £60000 they stuck £20 on the price of every season ticket.
Challenge the fans to buy 3000 season tickets and they will not give up the family stand.

Other benefits are
Reduced policing costs
Reduced stewarding costs
Improved supporter satisfaction

The club has the details of it's current season ticket holders. Wouldn't take much to fire out a simple ballot & find out if such a thing had support.

And there we have it. Instead of David Nicol extolling the positives of giving up our stadium to bigots, he'd be better off listening to ideas like this.

But do they want to?

It seems, and there's the usual "things are happening behind the scenes" excuse, there's no attempt to accurately gauge the support on this, wonder why?

I would hope that they do.

Bumping our gums on here won't find out. I'll ask them directly.

Anyone got the address for the Simple Digital Arena, Paisley [emoji1787]

That would be ideal if every Saints Fan was a SMiSA member.

Another problem we would have with them in one stand is the away support would infiltrate the Home stands. That could be a recipe for disaster.

What a load of nonsense. :D

We budget for our income leaving aside something for a rainy day fund.

Exactly how difficult is that to grasp? Scott knows all about this.

We just need to stop falling for this bullshit that it's the difference between relegation and survival.

It isn't and for him and Baz to continually repeat that ad nauseum is treating fans like idiots.

We should not be pandering to bigotry by giving them these seats and we should CERTAINLY not be moving kids to do it. That is appalling.

So fair to say this thread will quieten down again until the next game against the bigots where we reallocate empty seats? Let’s hope so.

I know you would dearly love it to quieten down but it's going to a lot noisier the longer this goes on.

You might as well settle in for the ride.

Unfortunately that would only be £29k or thereabouts per year.

Not sure that would satisfy the naked greed.

Agreed.

But, as you've just jumped in again, my response was to Shull wanting have the ground empty.

Still feeling sick?

"Morality 0 - 1 Reality"

No amount of money will make it justifiable to sell your soul, displace many hundreds of your own supporters and give up your family stand to a sectarian horde for a few pounds more.

Moving kids to get money out of known bigots is unethical and it should be the end of the story in a civilised society.

But naked greed knows no limits.

Great idea. On top of the £2 idea this would pretty much do it.

It's the sort of idea which could and should have come up in an open debate about the subject.

When you are dealing with naked greed however, ears tend to close to the sort of great idea you have produced here.

It's a reasonable suggestion however a fair number of our season tickets are concessions. The discount over buying tickets individually would be reduced by 20 quid which would make some (including full price) choose not to but a season ticket.

A simple fix on that.

Tickets v rangers & celtic are sold as part of a 3 game package.

Income generation we wouldn't normally have.

The argument against is that St Mirren fans who pay as we play could be disadvantaged.
This could be worked around fairly easily too by allowing 1 off ticket sales to 1877 Club, SMISA etc members who are not season tickets holders.

I'd also ramp up the Panda Club activities when rangers or celtic are visiting. Reinforcing the "Family Club" mantra rather than hiding our family club credentials away.

I agree, there's a few initiatives that could be adopted, each contributing to the bigger One Stand Only pot.

SMISA £2 pot.
£20 on a season ticket.
3 game ticket package.
Etc
