munoz 8,418 Report post Posted May 17, 2019 Thought Utd looked half decent tonight , but hard to gauge as Inverness looked knackered. Hopefully avoid the playoff but if it happens it'll be close imo.
Callum Gilhooley 10,016 Report post Posted May 17, 2019 Dodgy!!! Inverness pound them the whole first half and a horrific decision changes the game completely. Never a penalty in a million years!! Shades of Jim Goodwin v the green bigots in 2013 .

Bud the Baker 8,623 Report post Posted May 17, 2019 Dundee Utd. in the play-off final - are they stronger than last season? Quote 2017/18 -61 pts (3rd) 2-18/19 - 65 pte (2nd) On the face of it yes but there was no 12pt gift team like Brechin this season. Of more relevance is their form since the January transfer window and in particular since the SC game in mid Feb which is only marginally better than what went before, whereas we have gelled since then and are a far stronger proposition. United's main goalscoring threat comes from Slovak Pavel Safrenko & Nicky Clark joined by a our old friend Paul McMullen who has found a bit of form recently. For a team finishing second they don't have a great goalscoring record so if we do meet them I'd expect a low scoring contest going to the wire - pretty much a 50/50 contest.

Bud the Baker 8,623 Report post Posted May 18, 2019 (edited) Play-offs it is then - just a pity we gave Hamilton 25 games and 6 points of a start. If we had that squad back in August we wouldn't have finished in 11th. We've also come on a long way since United beat us in the Cup in February - I for one am going into the play-offs in a positive frame of mind! Both sendings off were denying clear goalscoring chances where the odds were we'd be 1-0 up vs 11 in each scenario.

Possibly but not definitely. What is a fact we played depleted teams for 60 and 70 minutes, forgetting the period when Dundee were down to 9. PS I'm quite happy if other teams get players sent off, that's what they deserve but it's important to note, IMO, it gave us an advantage and, to our credit, we took it. It's not always easy to play against 10 men. Edited May 18, 2019 by faraway saint
