Best guess is that enough Republicans will vote against impeachment again not because they particularly like Trump (anymore) but because it will be the less embarrassing outcome for them.

It depends on how strongly some feel about stopping Trump from running for office in the future. I think not enough will raise their heads above the parapet though.

They won’t vote against him because Trumpism hasn’t disappeared, there are still millions of Americans who support him. The republicans can’t afford to offend them or they will start another tea party.

Aye, it seems that many are more concerned with the short term future of the party and any short term damage rather than make sure the Clown never has any place in politics again.

On the matter of impeachment, 75 per cent of Republican respondents said they would disapprove of the Senate convicting the former president with 67 per cent saying they would “strongly disapprove”.

Washington — The majority of Republican senators voted that the impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump is unconstitutional, after hearing nearly four hours of arguments from House impeachment managers and Mr. Trump's attorneys on the first day of proceedings.

However, while most GOP senators determined there is no constitutional basis for a trial, many were unimpressed by the presentation by the former president's lawyers.

"President Trump's team was disorganized. They did everything they could but to talk about the question at hand. And when they talked about it, they kind of glided over it, almost as if they were embarrassed of their arguments," GOP Senator Bill Cassidy told reporters after the first day of the trial.

CNN just reporting Trump was incessant with his defence team's performance.
