That will build stability, solidity and results. Aberdeen didn't seem to make much with their possession - apart from toward the end of the game when they were pushing forward for the equaliser. I think we were far more effective with our possession and created the better chances. For all their possession they spent a lot of their time pushing the ball about ineffectively. We look solid and composed for the the most part. We do need to sharpen up when we create these chances though - we could have been out of sight by half time and Aberdeen could not have complained. Anyway - we agree that we need to wait and see and that nothing has been proved - I'm just more optimistic that what we have now is significantly better than what we had this time last year. Aberdeen hit the post, Hladky had to tip one over the bar, and they probably should have got a penalty. Yes they didnt make their possession pay... but we were as lucky with that win, as were last season against Dundee first game. the difference this time around is we appear to have a group of better quality players in for most of the season, wheras last year we were full of inexperience, and players without.. recent minutes on the pitch. That will build stability, solidity and results. There were considerable differences between the games, we could have been 3-0 up by half time with two very good and open chances. Dundee missed a penalty & our goal came from a keeper falling on his arse. If you genuinely don't see any noted difference between the two games & the level of Aberdeen vs last seasons Dundee it sums up your go to negative stance. We missed a free header from five yards out, had three occasions in the second half where it was practically three on two, the overhead kick he probably had time to compose himself and turn. No mention of 'on another day we could have been out of sight' though? Don't let a balanced view get in the way of your need to be negative about almost all things SMFC. Good to see your point on the better quality players though, well done to Gus and the other recruitment involved staff for their hard work. McGinns a leader regardless but giving Magennis the captaincy means he knows himself that his standards can’t slip and he needs to maintain the level that we know he’s capable of. If you're going on ifs, buts and maybes, you should count the number of clear cut opportunities we had to put the game to bed before Aberdeen had any chances.
