beyond our ken
Not worried about Bolton, it was easily the most inhospitable town that I visited as a saints fan and the fans are as guilty as the owners with their unrealistic expectation that the spending could just roll on and they would be fine. I don't recall any demonstrations complaining about the overspending.
Lord Pityme
With English managers suggesting we have blown them out of the water with the wages we have offered to players they were interested in, and the board stating they need to kick families out of their seats to get more Bigot Bucks in.... coupled with that smisa ringfenced funds being used for plastic pitches, heating repairs, loans, matchballs and hand dryers. added to the eye watering sums the board have had to pay out in compo to managers, coaches and players..... anyone still think we are "Living Within Our Means"? any other clubs like us throwing that kind of money around?

You got some numbers to put to those claims? You got any to suggest we are living within our means? the board have said they need to kick families out to afford paying wages and suggest that deficit alone is in six figures!
DougJamie
Any way back to Bury...…………… this will be tip of Iceberg , Leeds were not that far off, Blackburn are nearly 200m in Debt , and basically one the parachute payments stop and if they have tied up expensive contracts, ala Sunderland then doesn't matter how many come thru the gates that cant survive long term...………. Selling your club for a pound seems to be a bad idea

Owners have too much power and are not held to account over the appalling way that some have “run” their clubs. So it looks like Bury also has a pile of @bazil85 types who won't challenge their owners. Same with Bolton. It does show how vital it is that fans ask questions of their board.

Over here as an SMFC fan though, where under our current model we’re moving closer & closer to fan owned in an arrangement miles ahead of target, Have made profit every season under the current chairman, have no debt, are in the top flight of Scottish football, several potential player assets that could make big financial returns both at & away from the club, modern stadium, training facilities, record season and home ticket sales at the new stadium (last full season for avoidance of simple doubt) & a squad that looks stronger than I remember in years... I don’t see much of a need to challenge over aspects like IT systems, empty seats & honorary fan group members.

It’s devastating for the loyal fans who’ve stuck by their team through thick and thin. They could easily have taken the easy route of being glory hunters and choosing to “support” Man Utd. It’s the fans who suffer from this, not the arse who was “in charge”. 1 hour ago, beyond our ken said: Who should have more power than the owners? There needs to be more done to be able to hold an owner to account. Right now they can pretty much do what they like and get away with it. 18 minutes ago, oaksoft said: So it looks like Bury also has a pile of @bazil85 types who won't challenge their owners. It’s well known that Coventry City fans have continually protested against Sisu, but after all these years Sisu are still ruining the club and once again Coventry is not “home” to the club. That being said, after a long time, Blackpool fans did manage to get the Oystons out.

stlucifer
Who'd have thunk it. No talk about reincarnations and keeping history. Bury have been buried. Gone. The proverbial dead parrot. No voom. It wouldn't "voom" if you put four million volts through it! It's bleedin' demised! It's passed on! This club is no more! It's ceased to be! It's expired and gone to meet it's maker! It's a stiff! Bereft of life. It rests in peace! It's pushing up the daisies! It's metabolic processes are now history! It's off the twig! It's kicked the bucket, it's shuffled off it's mortal coil, rundown the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!! THIS IS AN EX-CLUB!! No trophies. No pretence that the death never happened. No, "It's the company" malarkey. IF a club is borne from the ashes I doubt they'll be claiming they're due the retention of the four FA cups won by the now liquidated club. Oh that Scottish football authorities had had the integrity and the b*lls to call a spade a spade.
