Wilbur
Entering St Ricky mode ...............… The impulse to state the bleedin' obvious is kicking in …………. "I think we need to score more goals". Phew.
NB18
288 minutes without a goal, 0 goals between our strikers in 8 games. You wonder if there is any more money left in Goody's budget to bring in a free agent striker. There's not one striker we can look at right now and say he'll get us 10-15 goals this season. Very concerning Vàclav solid as ever, could have easily been 4/5-0 if it wasn't for the big man pulling off some fantastic saves.
Maboza
Never turned up in the 1st half which was very disappointing and no surprise to see us go behind. Both full backs were getting too easily beaten by wingers coming inside. Got away with it a few times and Hladky kept us in the game but there was no pressure on the ball when we invited their player to stick the opener in the top corner from 20 yards. A bit better in the 2nd half. Some decent pressure and shots on target but not enough cutting edge. Mullen spent the first half on his arse (see Morias criticism) but his movement and energy was good in the 2nd half. Justified his start. Obika just doesn’t look as if he has enough desire just now for whatever reason. He actually one a few more headers, flick ons and got better as the 2nd half wore on but needs to up the effort and get a bit nastier. Djorkaeff looks like a youngster who needs to be a work in progress. First touch should have been an equaliser but he had a fresh air swipe and 45 seconds later misplaced a pass and its game over. I genuinely don’t think we’re as bad as some are obviously thinking just now but we definitely have a lot of questions to answer in our attack.
munoz
Same story as recent weeks although we did create better chances than our previous 2 games. One big concern is our lack of threat at set pieces- 9 corners today and not one looked like resulting in a goal scoring opportunity. Makes you wonder what goes on in training. The International break has definitely come at good time. Time to regroup.
doonhamer
I didn’t think there was much between the teams today. Big difference is none of our strikers are good enough for the Premier.
Sonny
Goody's philosophy is so soak up pressure and counter attack. We certainly know how to soak up pressure but the mindset of the team stops right there. One (of many) example(s) was a throw in half way in the Motherwell half but we throw it back the way and seconds later it is Vaclev instead of the opposition box. We are far, far too slow to get the ball up the park. There is virtually no movement off the ball and everyone wants to beat an opposition player instead of play a simple pass to a team mate. We play with two defensive midfielders who hardly crossed the half way line in the first half thus providing no support to forwards or wide men. The formation and attitude needs to change and quickly. We are deteriorating with each passing game.

All too often when we pick up possession in the middle of the park or on the wings we immediately turn back and look for the safe ball - which takes us back the way and then we’re not good enough to build from the back or pass through the lines. Only for a spell in the 2nd half did we actually have players willing to take a pass in tight situations and be brave. We need to have the balls to do that and to get good at it. It’s the only way to commit players and create chances.
santaponsasaint
Another shocker today. Gave 2 needless goals away. Goody has to change things. His system is not working or the players are not good enough to play it. Obika Morias. And Andrui. Were woeful today. Djorikeff came on with 5 mins to go and caused 2nd goal. 90mins riddled with mistakes and not for the first time this season. Hes got to use his squad. Bring McGinn back into midfield. He can't play the same 14 players every weeks. Not good enough.
Gordon Urquhart
Everything very flat today there. Fans getting zero encouragement from a very lacklustre team. Forwards awful again with M'Well much the better side. Next St J game at home is massive. Very concerning That’s the case for most teams anyway. Last season half the league didn’t have a ten goal a season player - the only players outside of the bigots who achieved this were Cosgrave, Naismith, Turnbull and Brophy. Indeed during our 9 year spell last time the only strikers who achieved this were Sutton, Higdon and Thompson. It’s not as easy as some think to find these sort of players on our budget. Indeed what is concerning is the fact that as a team we’ve only scored 3 goals in the league (never mind the no goals from open play against Edinburgh, EK and Albion). On this side of things we desperately need change. Edited October 5, 2019 by Cornwall_Saint Said Mehmet instead of Thompson for some reason
Ronnie
Actually very surprised the condemnation of that performance isn't worse.Groundhog day was invented for St Mirren the same players & manager making the same mistakes every week since July. I could write a list 10-20 mistakes we make every single week but we all see them it seems a shame the manager, coaches players don't digest these mistakes and fix them. We are this season's Dundee and no great escape 2 looks very likely, even on our worst days last season we occasionally looked capable of winning games and we even managed to score the odd goal or 2.

guinness
We basically played a back 8 in the first half. No-one plays a forward pass if they can go square or back. Goalie is our only player. The rest are poor . second half was a bit better but not much. We will never score more goals until we set the team up to go forward. The two new centres look very poor but it might be the system. Anyway St J next. 0-1 with a 94th minute winner .

At the moment we do not look capable of achieving this. Unless we start scoring goals, things could be decided before the January transfer window. The return of a fit Cody Cooke and Stephen McGinn could help our scoring/survival chances. Both of them are not good enough for the Premiership. Our strikers need to do what they were brought to the club to do, otherwise we will go down. Its that simple.

beyond our ken
if you didn't know who managed the club and just looked at the performances , the set up and tactics then you might well wonder if Gus McPherson had come back as manager. This is his philosophy and strategy, it's clear he is the man in charge.

Aye, nothing to do with the fact that Goodwin would have used these tactics all season long keeping Alloa up.
East Lothian Saint
Goody says "Don't Panic we're only three points off 7th. Lord Pityme
Goody says "Don't Panic we're only three points off 7th. It's not like we're adrift at the bottom" Thanks Goody that's so reassuring. I feel safer now. Yeah I noticed Goody's desperation to put a positive spin on things by trotting out the line Levein uses that really pisses of Jambos. What he omits from the " we're only three points from...." is the fact every game we don't win, teams around us do, and they move away.Come the Hearts game away that quote might be revised to "we're only three points off eleventh!"
