Lewis Morgan..Is he injured or just out of favour?

Recommended Posts

Lewis should have went to a mid table team who can do better than us. Hamilton, Motherwell, Livingston, St Johnstone would have shown there then moved on to bigger things. At Celtic Lewis is wasted.  Unfortunately St Miirrren is now seen as a wee club trying to hit the big time  but quite can't do it. Of course we live and hope but yet no signs of punishing above our small weight.  We are a small premiership team but a bigger championship team. Yoyo up and down the good days have gone unfortunately.

His problem is Celtic have enough wingers to practically field a starting XI using only players in Lewis' position. He's been adamant he doesn't want to come back to us on loan, and in the summer he said he didn't want to go out on loan at all. His best bet for the next season however would be to do a Ryan Christie and go on loan to a top 6 Scottish club (Aberdeen or Hibs being the most likely clubs) and do well there and show he can step up from being a great Championship and Scotland U21 player and show Celtic that he can do well in the top end of the Scottish premiership week in and week out. I think he is good enough to play for Celtic and Scotland (further down the line perhaps) but he needs to show he can make an impact at this level on a consistent basis, and if Celtic are going to keep him he needs a proper run of games rather than 10-15 minutes coming off the bench once every blue moon!

Aye, that's right, Morgan would sign for Accies or Livi, as that is obviously a step up from playing for us. FFS.

Actually he has a point.  Your reaction is entirely predictable.

I firmly believe that we are indeed a bigger club then Accies or Livi, of course I do but other people outside of "the Paisley bubble" do not.  Why would they?  Most men of working age do not remember the last time we finished in the top half of Scotlands top division.  They will remember our club dispensing with manager after manager but finishing in the top half of the top division, no.  You see our club have not been well run for a long time hence the reason why we have achieved very little since the 1980's.  Contrast our performance over that time with say...St Johnstone.  Now thats a club who are well run and have enjoyed much of the successes that our fans were starved of for so long.  Add Kilmarnock into the mix and we have been positively eclipsed by those around us.

We are seen as small club, a small club who try and repeatedly fail and that is because since the eighties that is largely all we have done.

Oh bee-hive...
Morgan would be better at the fakes..?
The guy was an absolute stand out for us, has played twice at Wembley, and won his Scotland cap...
Imo he will be off to an English championship club in January, either on loan or permanently.

Jack Ross will bring him to Hibs.

That would not be a surprise.  Our problem is not getting Morgan back he is gone some are clutching at straws. We need to work with what we have at this time. That is a lot of practice on the training ground attacking.

It's been raised on here before but when was the last time we had an attack-minded manager or coach (ie one who used to be an attacker)? Mixu?

Obviously it doesn't always follow that a former defender can't teach attack - Chequebook Guardiola manages ok; Klopp was a striker to begin with but became a defender. But at our level, who is coaching the strikers to make the right runs, to find space in the box. Who is working with the wingers to make them more productive?

I think Morgan would have been more involved had Rogers stayed. I also think that Celtic expected to sell Sinclair, and again, Morgan would have been more involved.

Lennon came in and a new manager wants to bring in new players, eg Elyounoussi.

They also have Hayes for the bench, who, not only is a fantastic left winger, he can also double up as a left back. Therefore Morgan can’t even get a look in on the bench.

With Mickey Johnston to come back from injury I can’t see Morgan getting a look in anytime soon.

Just had a look for any news on Lewis.  Was called up to the Scotland squad late for the San Marino game. That's the last news I can find. Going to a Edinburgh or Aberdeen would have been progress for Lewis. He must be feeling very frustrated.

So, Messi isn't a better player than Broadfoot?

Is it something in the water, outbreak of utter madness?

Messi is a much much better player middle to front, broadfoot a better defender, its their specialised positions Messi cant defend for toffee and doesnt so relatively mooted point using a world superstar to try and make your point

Are you really saying that one player cannot be deemed better than another because they don't play in the same position?

Are you off your head...............................silly questions I know.

I'm off to work, no time to deal with the afflicted, that's a specialists job.

The usual diatribe retort i expected mallan and Morgan are each better players in their rightful positions. To bring messi into the equation was just ludicrous. This thread is about Morgan and for me the bottomline is now he is irrelevant as no longer our player and wont be back on loan

Yes this thread was about Morgan, you got that bit right.

I was replying to someone else's point that you cannot compare players unless they play in the same position, which is ludicrous.

Bringing Messi in was to point out exactly why you CAN compare players, irrespective of where they play.

Don't teams do that every season by picking a player of the year, going by your thinking that's impossible?

Apologies for being abrupt last night, I was running late to get to work on time.

Lol no need to apologise its all about opinions and a bit of banter without personal attacks to other forum users seen that a few times from others and its just not neccessary. We all wont have the same opinion
