St Mirren v Ross County, 23rd Nov

Recommended Posts

Ok fellow buds, here's the first home game of the second set of fixtures.

Our abysmal away form is there for all to see, our home form is decent.

We have to be looking to win these games, RC have done well, usually only losing to teams in the top half of the league.

A draw really is not good enough, we must win.

Some sort of draw looks the most likely to me.

Should have probably been a draw up in Dingwall in the first meeting.

A draw would at least stop the run of defeats,  but we really need the 3pts.

There really isn’t a lot in it between the bottom six, however others are grinding out results whereas our form particularly on the road has been poor.  Reckon Jim has to change it as our current formation just isn’t working - think he should bring Gary Mac back in and go 3-5-2.  We are looking a bit of an easy touch at the moment and need to toughen up fast.

We need to beat Ross County which would bring points gap between us down to 3 - a loss and that gap increases to 9 points so this is a massive game. Not having a fit Kyle McAllister to call on has been a major blow and Durmus hasn’t been the answer out wide either.

Hopefully JG will have them fired up for this one and our good home record continues.

Hope to see MacKenzie back for this match and hope that Magennis recovers in time too, however, if he doesn’t then it will force JG to try something different in midfield. About time too.

Pretty confident that both Obika and Mullen will score and think we can pinch another goal from a midfielder.

3-1 victory

Thanks for going to the effort of putting up these stats.

But you quote last 6 games and only give us data for last 5 ?   Out of the 5 listed above we won only 2, yet only lose to an OF team. The draw with the Hammers though was not a good result, but the Hearts one was not too bad - though they were dreadful at that time too.

Last game for us was truly dreadful, Hearts walked through us like no one else has managed all season.

Yes our home record is not so terrible, but we are bottom of the league and have to win some games to really climb up and away from danger. And against teams we can beat.

3 points is a big result and makes a big difference. The Hammer throwers and RC have managed a few of these kind of wins and we need to manage a few more than we did in the 1st round of fixtures - even 2 wins more could see us taking 14 points from this round and that would be much more on track...

You can see what Hearts (and Hibs for that matter) managed by having a look at themselves, (under a caretaker managers), surely we can have a look at ourselves too (as a group without sacking the manager) and see this as a must win cup tie, at home against a team with a poor defensive record who stole all the points last time out against us?

If so, we need to start much better than in the last game and dare I say not let them exploit our wee LB who had a mare last time against them.

Need our players to play nearer their best, and as a unit. Need to make and take chances while giving them no space to play... (Livi style)

Hard game to predict - how well will we set up and how well will we play on the day - no idea whatsoever, but would take any kind of win - even with an O.G. being our winning goal.   St. Mirren 1 v 0  RC  Andreu to score or an O.G.   :ninja
