To be fair, it was only us , Dundee and Hamilton that were really pish last season. This year we have Hearts, Hamilton, St.Johnstone and Ross County, who are our equals or worse. Even Hibs and Kilmarnock appear to be significantly worse than last season. However, we're definitely a much better team than we were this time last year. The standard is worse this season, that's why we need to win more games cos the likes of hamilton, st johnstone, ross county are able to get points off the other teams. That wasnt really the case last season. We are not a good team and somehow have 19 points. I thought kearneys team was better than this one but they found it harder to get points

We have lost games when we deserved better, we are creating chances in most games and have been unlucky with injuries to key players. Why is it that some think we only win because the other team are crap? Yes, we have missed a lot of chances but at least we are creating them. Can you just be happy we won today and played well. Ayrshire Saints
McLaughlin gave what sounded like a farewell speech post match in the 1877 and Goody hunted that we may see much more of Foley at centre back after today. Ayrshire Saints
That's just nonsense. We lack an out and out finisher but so does everyone outside Aberdeen and the OF. The forwards work their socks off and create plenty chances. We are taking enough to keep us in the mix. It's a really cutthroat (dangerous) division with plenty teams in the mix at the bottom but we are clearly a far better team this season. Milea more enjoyable imo Disagree, we're absolutely hopeless going forward! We're just getting away with it because there are so many other bad teams in the league. St.Ricky
Two guests up from Cambridge today. Great comment.. If you didn't know the relative league positions before the game then you would have thought that Saints had the higher standing in the league given the way both teams played. That's a real pity as he's improving all the time Foley looked a lot better at the back and wouldn't surprise me if he stayed there How good are McGinn and Flynn? Outstanding I thought our midfield was poor today couldn't keep the ball. The effort was there but the quality wasn't A really good goal by 2 bits of quality need to get more out of Durmus The effort, workrate and always showing by Junior and Obika was excellent The finishing on the other hand was dreadful as we should have ran out 4 nil winners today Centre back, left back and an Andy Dorman, Billy Stark type midfield player and we should be safe How the feck Hamilton do it, a real downer hearing that result

Kearney had Stubbs’ pish. I'm a big fan of Kearney, and take your point. But clearly Goody's team is better organised and playing better football. Kearney did very well in the transfer market. If Goody can match that then I'll be happy. There's really no point comparing past and present managers. The fact is Goody is our manager and Kearney isn't. That's not going to change soon. Ayrshire Saints
A Cosgrove, Morelos or Eduard costs millions. Our guys are pretty much on a par with anyone outside those. stlucifer
The best accolade I could give is that that makeshift defence at no time looked like a makeshift defence. McLoughlin was his usual reliable self. Foley was immense. P. McGinn looked just as natural in his left side defensive duties and Flynn worked his socks off to the end. The midfield were fine though we did start to lose the battle for a while, second half. Nonetheless. This was a fantastic result and could have been far more emphatic. If I had one criticism, Obika and Morias, (and Cooke later on), worked hard and gave the Killie defence no peace and no end of problems BUT we really need someone with a better scoring ratio if we have aspirations of safely keeping our top league status. ETA. Killie are an absolute shambles and, if they don't stop the rot, they'll be in the mire with us and the rest. lenziebud
2 hours ago, FTOF said: Definitely. Along with Hladky he's been our most consistent performer. Goodwin's back four selection today was the work of genius. The selection of Foley as a pairing with McLoughlin was a risk that paid off handsomely. Flynn has really developed as a RB and was really only bested once today. McGinn (P) continues to show his versatility. Obika caused them a load of problems today, as did Morias with his constant running down of players. Durmus had his best game for a while and his finish was excellent, as was Andreu's assist. Hladky was his usual assured self, and Magennis and MacPherson fought like terriers. A great result to take us into the winter shutdown. Best I have seen Durmus, consistent over the 90 mins and probably explains why he stayed on for the full match, needs to happen for me a lot more often

Julian Banjos
Regarding the lack of a goalscorer, let's not get carried away because going back 30 years in the top league our best returns are:Higdon, Thompson = 13Torfason = 12Sutton = 11Gillies, Dorman = 10Obika is on 5 and we're just past the halfway mark. He could well be in amongst those above at the end of the season. Mullen and Morias both have 2 from sporadic appearances and Cooke is now fit again. We had the imcredible fortune to get 3 great years out of Thommo. If anyone else had scored that number of goals for us we'd have lost them pretty quick to another team (see M.Higdon!). To find that elusive goalscorer is very difficult. The Saintees thought they'd solved their problems by splurging on Stevie May and it looks like they've ended up with a guy whose career is disintegrating. Would be great to get an Isma in for 20 games but we're not that badly off up front, in my opinion.
