What’s bollox?

We’re going to quarantine an entire population and wreck the economy instead of just quarantining the people who are most affected by coronavirus?

Makes no sense

I agree: your posts are bollox and make no sense.

I don't want to distract from the subject of the thread, especially as this has been covered back on 2014 when suggested. Just to recap though, a throat pastel incurs a charge of $10 in US hospitals, along with a covid 19 testing kit costing around $250 - $350.

If you are unlucky enough to take ill and require hospitalisation then the costs under a free market are huge.

Only a sociopath or a f**kwit woukd think allowing a free market where the priority is profit access to health are is a good idea.

You do realise that the NHS buys from the free market and uses free market services and has free market employees?

Have you never heard of insurance either?

Not that I agree with Stuart’s view but your reply highlights again the depths of your stupidity [emoji23]

I agree with this.
My colleague at work is 67 years old. He said exactly the same thing last Wednesday. Isolate the over 60's and those with medical conditions and let everyone else carry on as normal. Absolutely the simplest solution.
So now you agree that the government has made a c**t of it?

Now, now stuey better get that flag back out [emoji636]

He did all this back then too. In fact most of these lefties do exactly the same thing. There must only be two countries in the world. The UK and the US because they act as though we only have the option of one or the other healthcare systems. It's utterly moronic.

How can it be moronic?
We have a health care system that is the ultimate example of universally free to all at point of use and also paid for by a national insurance scheme not individual.

You want to give everyone money to buy their own which is what us and other countries do.

I see we are back to the "lefties" insult - you do realise universal basic income is the ultimate act of socialism? [emoji6]

That is true but I would imagine the numbers who have recovered is also exponentially rising. I don't see the media promoting that. Not sensationalist enough. I hope I will be one of them as I appear to have some of the symptoms. and am self isolating
The number deaths in Scotland doubled overnight. It was only 3 to 6 but its a sign of things to come. Spain's death toll trebled over the last 24hrs and is now over 700.
Its going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

Looking at the deaths on the face of it, Germany’s deaths seem strikingly low.

But if you look at the trend, they are actually only about 4 days behind the UK on the curve.

Italy’s curve seems to be steeper. Took them about 10 days to get over the 100 death mark whilst it took the UK about 14 days, where we are at now.

Two weeks on and Italy is now over 3,000 deaths and nearly 500 in one day now. That’s where the UK could be heading.

But faraway says it’s only the flu so it’s all okay.

What levels can this fool’s stupidity sink to next? [emoji23]

Universal Basic Income does have an odd combination of bedfellows from those on the left who see it as a less abrasive than the current Welfare State funded by progressive taxation to those on the right who see it as a backdoor method to dismantle society and thus grab an even larger slice of the pie for themselves (oops just gave myself away there) - personally I would be sceptical of any form of UBI advocated by the current government.

You sure about that?
TPAFKATS says the UK Government has had it all wrong and been grossly negligent in not locking us all up sooner like they have done in Italy. Surely he hasn't got that wrong.

You surely don’t take his posts seriously do you?

I thought most folk just took them at face value: comic stupidity

Not convinced doubling IS a sign of things to come as there been few days any countries death toll has doubled.

Spain had 165, giving a tragic total of 803, not sure where your getting trebled?

Stating the obvious it'll get worse but it's slowed down to a small trickle in China.

Italy still, and unlikely any country will reach these figures for some time, if at all, are at a total of 3,405.

Yes. But it's just as important to recognise that people DO recover. All you see on the media is the adding of numbers who contract it or who unfortunately die. It's feeding the panic without showing the hope.

Aye, Italy are at a massive ,069% of cases of the population.

Police called to Boots in Ayr today to control a massive queue for prescription collection. They were letting people in one in one out but as seems the norm the great British public were having none of that hence police required. Utterly unbelievable stuff. Oh and anyone making this into a political tool is an utter moron. It has hee haw to do with politics, I don't envy any politician having to deal with a crisis like this.

How realistic is that the tide can turn in 12 weeks like Boris says?

Looking at China, it took them about 3 weeks to get into the peak period of deaths, which lasted about a week and a half.

Of course, their lockdown was very drastic.

Same as Italy, that's why they're all singing from their balconies...................

"Just one Cornetto, we're fecking starving"

At the same time though, people aren't social distancing as much as they should and by highlighting the "success" right now it'll only encourage them to stay in the pub and crow about how it's just a bad cold.
