Guest TPAFKATS
Aye, I'll stick to facts, you stick with Sky news. No testing unless you present to hospital with a temp of 37.8 or above. Lots of folk with symptoms. Might be the flu that's also going around but we don't know.

Agree, I've had cold/man flu symptoms for a week, but tonight Dr Smirnoff will see to that.
Guest TPAFKATS
I happen to agree. People forget these decisions are taken with the input of various people. Some nuggets seem to think Boris just wakes up and makes a decision then has breakfast. Both of those statements are true. The problem can also be who the various people are giving input. oaksoft
A few days ago I said my company had seen a drop of 60% in sales within a week. And following today's announcement it's dropped to zero income. f**k me that was as fast and brutal as it was unexpected. Maybe I can get a job as a shelf filler at Asda. At this rate I might need to sell my body at the docks.. 🤣 Anyone complaining about only getting 80% of their wages is welcome to visit me for a swift boot in the balls. 🤣🤣🤣 Edited March 20, 2020 by oaksoft

Hiram Abiff
You are, as usual, getting mixed up. Old people are not being told to stay at home to avoid spreading the virus. They are being told to stay at home to protect themselves. Deary me. That’s exactly what I said. Please read properly next time before jumping on with your stupid witterings. Those people have every right to decide for themselves what risks to take without the likes of you barking orders at them. It's younger people who are more likely to be carriers. If Sturgeon and Johnson are seriously bothered about movement of people they would have announced a lockdown. Until then.....bugger off and give us all peace. Totally disagree. The vulnerable people will be the ones needing the care if they get the virus. They need to stop socialising. The only lockdown needed is for vulnerable people. Love the last sentence. Always the mark of a buffoon when he thinks he’s speaking on behalf of “all” And you’re a monumental buffoon!

In context the flu kills 250,000 - 500,000 PER YEAR, that's facts, not wild "guesses". Our healthcare system is already collapsing. Countries have two options: either they fight it hard now, or they will suffer a massive epidemic. If they choose the epidemic, hundreds of thousands will die. In some countries, millions. bonzoboys
Don’t know if boris has it right or not, but just getting fed up with every other politician who has no real responsibility, jumping on the “I know better” bandwagon. Scoring political points at this time is s**t. What happened to national unity, caring about the people? same with panic buyers etc. No thought for others. Hope the guys with all the handgel gets it from somebody that has none. We all need a share of everything. china and Asia have different culture but when government said or demanded stay at home, they did it. Here we want freedom, want to go to pub etc. “Nobody tells me what to do” culture. Absolutely bonkers. Next it will be the civil liberty claims. Government cannot tell me what to do lt! britain waken up. Batten down the hatches. Nobody knows when officially started in China, but Lets say mid Jan. over worse of it now. Relatively short time period. There sadly will be deaths but even with the greatest care, these will inevitably happen. The country at large needs to get a grip, knuckle down for next 4-6 weeks and let’s get through it as best we can. To all all of you. Be sensible, do the hand washing, stay safe, look after others, lets get through this

Be sensible, do the hand washing, stay safe, look after others, lets get through this I agree with points 1 & 2. I'm ambivalent towards points 3 & 4, as I don't think people should always blindly follow their government's orders. Aye, in the case of a national emergency, but despotic regimes always claim that obedience is imperative for the good of the country! Ultimately I would rather take my chances and live in a free society than live in a country where I need the permission of the government to go to the shops. Temporarily, that's fine, but I will not blindly obey indefinitely.

W6er
There seems to be very little talk on here about the financial impact this will have. The leisure, tourism, sports and hospitality trades are all going to be hit very, very hard. Many parents might have to give up their jobs now that schools and nurseries are closing. Even with the government promising to pay 80% of people's wages, that will still mean people will reign in their spending, and with talk of this continuing for up to a year this is going to eclipse the Credit Crunch. I predict a decade of economic pain not seen since the 1930s, and we all know how that ended.
