I didn’t say it was closed, I haven’t been down in person to physically check the current status. I referenced a link that said it was closed.
If they don’t have equipment and resources, then the Nightingale ExCel is as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike.
Anyway, you have an enjoyable day and hopefully a good result for the Saints will give you some festive cheer.

You posted some article that said it was closed which you were quite willing to post and go along with.

Hiding behind the "it wasn't me, it was someone else" has been used by plenty on here throughout this, showing a lack of willingness to comment using your own thoughts.

I've already tried to ask if you EVER thought this could be the case rather than just post any old shite you come across, ala Shull.

They have removed SOME equipment, it isn't empty and can be ready in a fairly short time period, IF required.

They almost certainly WOULD have resources IF required, as people that are off usually return to work and they, the NHS, would recruit from other sources.

Aye, festive cheer, rather than doom and gloom, I'll take that any day. :byebye

I wouldn't bet on it. He's been a miserable bastard all year. You're not the first or last he'll be having a go at this year.

Yet again you have a dig rather than post on the subject.

I'm not the one being miserable on this subject, but don;t let that get in the way as I've spat you out umpteen times this year.

Desperate for some pals are we? :byebye

I don't know what hey could or couldn't recruit but I'd think they could dig up some resources from somewhere.

Maybe it’s time for the NHS to sound the bugle and re recruit the 47.000 that volunteered back at the height of COVID....... 42.000 of which that were never used. (Figures from the Daily Mail 30-12-2020)

Dr Nick Scriven, the former president of the Society for Acute Medicine, said: "It is not 'just the case' of using the Nightingale hospital as there are simply no staff for them to run as they were originally intended.
"They could play a role perhaps if used as rehabilitation units for those recovering but, again, where do we find the specialist staff - the NHS simply does not have the capacity to spare anyone."

From the same BBC article that you quoted from, I guess you missed that bit. Let’s use the car engine scenario but change the car engine for NHS staff 🤫emoji6.png

Figures from the Daily Mail should be the first red flag ??

47k volunteers are just that volunteers, how many are medically qualified ?

Potentially heading for a complete lockdown very soon unless government can get on top of new variant.

Starting to over promise again with Handcock's utterances

For someone who claims to be so happy, he certainly sounds like a miserable bastard the way he keeps attacking the opinions of others over the last few months. And adding a host of smileys doesn't change that.

I don’t read any tabloids chap, I just did the googly thing to find the information across various sources.
No idea how many of the 47.000 were medically qualified (bit of a loaded question but I’m assuming you were including non medical posts) but I can’t imagine too many plumbers (unless they were volunteering for the Urology department) flinging their hats in the ring.

WRT complete lockdown, I agree with you there as it’s an easy get out for Boris and Sturgeon. If there are no significant rise in deaths, they’ll take the credit for the full lockdown. If there is a significant rise in deaths, it could be said that lockdowns don’t work. It’ll be interesting to see the stats over the next two to three weeks.

I see the government & the three devolved administration's have changed policy and second vaccinations will be delayed to 12 weeks after the first...

Quote

A statement from the UK's four Chief Medical Officers said: "[We] agree with JCVI that at this stage of the pandemic prioritising the first doses of vaccine for as many people as possible on the priority list will protect the greatest number of at risk people overall in the shortest possible time and will have the greatest impact on reducing mortality, severe disease and hospitalisations and in protecting the NHS and equivalent health services.

"Operationally this will mean that second doses of both vaccines will be administered towards the end of the recommended vaccine dosing schedule of 12 weeks.

Only a change for the Pfizer vaccination, the Oxford was, as far as I know was always a 12 week time gap after the first jab.

OK but Pfizer aren't exactly endorsing the decision regarding their vaccine

But pharmaceutical giant Pfizer said that it only assessed its vaccine on a two-dose regimen whereby people were given the jab three weeks apart.

In a statement it said: “Pfizer and BioNTech’s phase three study for the Covid-19 vaccine was designed to evaluate the vaccine’s safety and efficacy following a two-dose schedule, separated by 21 days.

“The safety and efficacy of the vaccine has not been evaluated on different dosing schedules as the majority of trial participants received the second dose within the window specified in the study design.

“Data from the phase three study demonstrated that, although partial protection from the vaccine appears to begin as early as 12 days after the first dose, two doses of the vaccine are required to provide the maximum protection against the disease, a vaccine efficacy of 95%.

“There are no data to demonstrate that protection after the first dose is sustained after 21 days.

Where do the NHS get the staff for the Nightingale hospitals?

They take staff from the slack at hospitals in other parts of the country who could be spared and temporarily place them at the Nightingales. By definition they become covid specialists. 3 or 6 month temporary placements would be the way to go.

Also, they should stop fecking whining. Like school teachers, the NHS is way too heavily unionised. If there is a staffing problem, these nurses and doctors from quiet areas of the country in non-urgent disciplines should be more than willing to step in. In fact they should be queueing up to help their struggling colleagues. I know I would be doing that without a second thought..
