Lockdown won’t end until we have less than 1,000 cases a day

Based on the false positive rate of the PCR test and the huge volume of tests being done, it will be impossible to get below 1,000 cases a day - even if covid were to completely disappear.

Enjoy! 👍

Especially as the "left wing weirdos" invested so many billions in a failed (non-existent) Track and Trace system - and won't invest in paying poorer people to self-isolate!

Oh, no wait...

It was the right wing Tory government led by The Buffoon that keeps f**kin up, isn't it?

Florida abandoned lockdown in September while California is one of the most locked states in the US.

Joe Biden’s covid adviser Andy Slavitt appeared stumped on Wednesday when asked to explain why California and Florida, which had very different methods of combating COVID-19, have similar trends in COVID-19 cases and deaths

In California, a little more than 8.5% of the population has been infected; in Florida, it's a little less.

Biden's adviser struggled to spell out specific reasons that Florida's lax approach wasn't just as effective, saying: 'What we do know is that the more careful people are, the more they mask and social distance, and the quicker we vaccinate, the quicker it goes away and the less it spreads,' Slavitt said.

How does do they “know” this when the data quite clearly suggests otherwise?

Is he using the @bazil85 line of reasoning “just cos, it’s obvious, innit”.....?

You again show it is beyond reasonable doubt that lockdown limits the spread of the virus and saves lives. US collectively has had a poor response to this virus and that is reflected in its infection and death rates. Trying to use this country to evidence you're clearly incorrect view is madness. Is the pandemic still "over" in the UK?

Why are schools, seemingly looking to return P1-P3 pupils before P4-P7?

Surely the older pupils are doing more work that will be required in secondary?

P1-P3 are, basically, just playing FFS!.

The argument is that P1-3 pupils pose less risk in terms of transmission of the virus. I would've included P7 too as I feel this is a critical year, more so than the first two at secondary level.

The exit from Lockdown3 (2½ up here) is to, state the bleedin' obvious,  likely to be the biggest decision the governments within the UK are going to face this year. A lot of the factors  are coming together to improve the picture. I'd hope some restrictions on being able to meet and more types of shops being able to open will be announced on Monday, although as I haven't been into Ayr's town centre in 2021 I'm unsure what is actually open. Ultimately as England's case rates and deaths are falling to meet ours I reckon Nicola's "1% tougher" strategy will sorta dovetail with BJs. In the end there's only so long people will accept the lockdown situation and IIRC the whole point of the vaccine program was to allow a return to "normality".

In an ideal world that normality will mean a real commitment to "levelling up" both domestically and globally but it's clear that bird has flown, taking with it new variants of the virus aplenty...

Final bit of speculation - does anyone else see BJ resigning & cashing in using the slogan" Brexit completed, Covid defeated!" in the summer?

So. The high court decree that the Government acted unlawfully when it refused to divulge details of some of the contracts for PPE within the required time frame. UNLAWFULLY!  The home secretary had acted UNLAWFULLY and had breached his legal obligation. The Departmant for Health and Social Care had been FORCED to sign deals within very short time frames.

All this and what do the BBC say is their top story? Harry and freckin' Megan!

This incompetent, lying, thieving  lot  should be forced to resign.

It's a distinct possibility he'll follow that rancid little shit Cummings out of the door.

Brady and his cronies in the 1922 committee have been haranguing Boris every chance they get.

He'll need a suit of armour to fend off the knives.

Brady's lot have seem to have been manoeuvring Sunak into position for a while now. They've done a lot of work to quell dissenting voices amongst back benchers who took a dislike to Sunak's habit of shameless self-promotion.

More than unlikely IMO, time will tell.

Well I have to go with FTOF rather than faraway, despite BJ saying for a week or so "it's about data not dates" it appears he's veering towards his right wing backbenchers and away from his scientific advisers...
