Undertones of some sort of normality around the same time as England is what I took from the update. more cautious in the steps from now until the summer though.

If football is allowed back unrestricted late June/ early July, first match we should arrange is a returning Renfrewshire cup, all proceeds to the NHS. It would probably come close to selling out.

Why just the NHS?

There's been plenty of people who have worked all the way through this shitfest, and haven't had the "clap" to show for it.

As for close to a sell out, I doubt it.

"Meh "from wee Nicky.

Usual playing the "safety" game, when the combination of low numbers and the vaccine could easily have seen us further ahead on loosening up the current restrictions and get the economy back on it's feet.

Hey ho, dreary life to drag on for a while yet.

The only good thing is she continues to piss of the public to reducing the chance of another wasteful referendum.

Condom use to thank for that. Although some have seen plenty of tips 😂

We're not going to boil the ocean with one football match.

I would be surprised if the stadium was less than 90% full.

"Say what you say "?

Eh?

No other European leader has over 120,000 deaths heading towards 150,000, by ignoring scientific and medical advice, not locking down soon enough, opening up too quickly and pretty much randomly, shutting down again, going for herd immunity, not providing PPE, shifting old people out of hospitals to infect Care Homes , wasting £Billions by gifting it to friends of his party and not investing it in NHS and not utilising the skilled people within local government.  Etc etc etc... ad infinitum.

THIS would indeed be recognised as the wisdom of a fool... some might say A f**kin Buffoon.

It's f**kin tragic.

We might be lucky and get away with it, but I did today suggest not far above this post, a more measured and sensible way back to "a normality".

I fear it'll be like Thatcher & The Falklands again, few people now remember she was trying to negotiate the islands sovereignty away and made defence cuts that sent the wrong signals to Galtieri inviting the invasion and ultimately leaving the UK with a white elephant and that what people will remember about the pandemic will be BJs vaccination gamble paying off and not the 99 gaffes that preceded it - REJOICE!

Civil Liberties Champion Priti Patel has just said in an interview that it's "‘Far too early’ to book an overseas holiday, Priti Patel warns".

‘Far too early’ to book an overseas holiday, Priti Patel warns (msn.com)

This interview comes just a few days after Tony Blair our last "socialist" PM made another argument for the need to introduce Identity Cards this time in the wake of the pandemic - I'm hoping we can avoid this dis-spiriting outcome...

Not quite, a common sense approach to maintain a Covid free nation, simply reducing the chances of importing other variants.

A vaccine passport with world wide support, not an identity card.

Why would this be dis-spiriting?

Because the changes Blair was advocating went beyond that.

On the subject of foreign travel in general I'm agin it general and would ration it for environmental reasons, and I find the clamour to go for an all-inclusive booze up in sunnier climes whilst the pandemic will still be rife in many countries a bit distasteful but then I'm a bit of a zealot...

Scotland reaps dividend of Covid response that diverged from England - from the Pink 'Un no less!

Actually it should be a bit of a wet dream for The Cap'n as it has a number of graphs focussing on Excess Death rates.

There is often a paywall to sail through for the FT but not on this occasion.

Many people go to sunnier climes to experience the culture and meet different nationalities.

See a bit of the world, not stick to a 50 mile radius of their house.

Not everyone's main aim is all inclusive holidays.

Now who posted this in the vaccines thread?

On the more general issue of foreign travel my opinion remains that "first world privileges" should be less important than the battle against global warming.

Dream on FS.
I would contend NS’s popularity has rarely been higher. A bit like the current polls on a second referendum.

I guess the upcoming election will be a good measure of how much Nicola is “pissing off the public”.

Let’s see who turns out to be right.

PS

You’re acceptance of defeat post won’t have to be written in blood. That’s how nice a guy I am.

Well done, that covers everybody and every holiday.

#struggling

Your opinion is only that, I'll stick with spending my money as I see fit. 👍

Have you set the recent opinion polls? 🙄

Overall I don't give a monkeys, it's all the bitter nationalists that make me laugh.

The amount of anger and threatening stuff posted last time was enough for me to vote no, along with the uncertainty about supporting the country.

Did you make a mistake there and say nationalists instead of unionists?

As for anger and threatening stuff, you obviously didn’t pay much attention to the goings on in George Square while unionists “celebrated” their victory.

Anyway, enough, this is a coronavirus thread.
