Scottish Government saying they want all over 18s boostered by end of year and have opened up appointments for the 30-40 age group Strange how I know/have spoken to over 50s who can’t get an appointment this year 🤔

My 38 year old son booked a booster appointment today for Thursday in Glasgow.

My 40 year old daughter and her husband have appointments tomorrow in Clydebank.

I guess there must be disparity across the country.

Of course the death rate this now is really low, its new and folk aren't just falling over dead as soon as they catch it.

Folk aren't falling over anywhere in any numbers to worry about, despite it being touted as the scariest variant so far.

Cases of Omicron in Gauteng, South Africa’s most populous province and home to its biggest city, Johannesburg, rose slightly from a seven-day daily average of 9,645 last Thursday, to 10,131 on Sunday. At the same time, the positivity rate of those being tested and the number of hospitalizations have both been falling. Data from the country’s National Institute for Communicable Diseases shows positivity rates dropping from 30% to around 15% between Thursday and Saturday, while the number of new hospitalizations fell from 207 to 64 over the same period.

I say so far, there will be continued variants, something we will have to live with.

The booster will become the annual "in thing" along with the flu jab.

The latest "panic" seems as much a PR stunt to get people who haven't had a jab to jump aboard the vaccination bus.

Tonight's latest attempt to scare people is the announcement that ONE person has died from the new variant.

There are very few people in the UK with zero protection at this point. Most have either had the virus, or been vaccinated. Death rate is extremely low, especially for the new variant.

Do we just continue like this forever?

Why is it ok to allow people to die of cancer because they are still waiting for treatment, but not of a virus?

More about control than it is about a virus

I also think that withdrawing routine health checks for diabetes, high cholesterol and heart conditions in the over 75s says a lot about how we treat our elderly in this country.

A few days ago the "inflated" number, due to a delay in reporting, was 5,000 cases, in Scotland, in the one day.

This figure was all over the media.

Well, two can play that game, compared to that figure, todays figure, 3,756, has shown a drop of 25%.

Can't wait for tomorrows continued absolute abuse of power from wee Nicky.

The good thing from the current panic is that vaccinations are increasing on a daily basis.

There will be a hard core, for various reasons, who will NEVER have a vaccination, entirely their choice.

We are currently administering an average of 41,676 new vaccinations per day. This is an increase this time last week, when we were doing 35,747 a day.

In total, 79.8% of the entire Scottish population has had their first dose, 72.8% have had both doses, and 39.4% have had a third dose. In the past 7 days, 5.3% of Scotland has received a dose!

Ignoring the fact that the leaky vaccines still allow transmission, Britain is now a heavily vaccinated country with a low death rate - by prioritising boosters for healthy people with well functioning immune systems over assisting developing nations with large numbers of unvaccinated people seems an odd way of going about things

If it was all about saving lives, they would be prioritising getting the NHS back to full capacity - waiting lists for cancer treatment, operations etc. are absolutely massive and need to be addressed as a matter of priority

Moving on to boosters 4, 5, 6, 7 at such a frantic rate is unnecessary and not what the public signed up for. What happened to getting back to normal once most of the population was vaccinated?

Overall I agree, but it's well documented that the booster gives considerable protection against the double jab.

Being a drama queen about boosters 4, 5, 6 etc does nothing for your viewpoint.

There was a doctor on radio Scotland this morning who said that the current furore will fade away and Covid will become, like it or not, in the same bracket as the annual flu jab, a small price to pay for protecting those that need protection.

Looking like wee Nicky will be "recommending" people reduce meeting up with friends/family over the festive period.

Many people never paid any attention last season, even less will this year.

It really doesn't matter, all the evidence points towards the current panic has been the worst yet, and that takes some doing.

The current "cave dwellers" amongst us will have a great Christmas, smugly sitting looking in the mirror, stay safe. 😂

Well found Bazil. And those forumsters who believed it was just the flu, were abused and ridiculed by Toxic Titch from Arbroath. He also claimed certain forumsters were resident in Dykebar Hospital. I now understand the feelings you, Antrin and BIEK have for the poisoned dwarf.

Wee man's syndrome has destroyed him.

One of the biggest meltdowns ever on the Forum was only recently when Toxic Titch exploded with rage and tears after a fellow forumster was receiving too many likes for their posts. Titch was livid and actually reported the forumster and got him banned. What was that all about ? The tiny terror has been broken and ruined ever since. He is such a little and irrelevant man that he needs to be liked the mostest on this forum. Toxic tailgating Titch.

Oh aye, that was funny when you were "liking" yourself, replying to your other aliases and generally being a mad man, not a lot has changed.

Oh how I laughed.

Ask Santa if you could "get a life" for Christmas, it's not too late. 🤡

As predicted, Nicky asking people to avoid socialising with other people and households.

That apart, not a lot TBH, but the push, and I see nothing wrong with this message, get vaccinated.

If you choose not to then you are asking for trouble.

PS Also financial help for business's that have lost out due to further "guidance", another positive step.
