The good news is Rangers are honking, I had written that game off, not now, since the New Year they have fallen off the cliff. We are the lowest scoring team in the league, yet our defence, overall, are pretty decent. is it a midfielder with a touch of quality we need to unlock other teams? At least we did get in behind the Sainteeees defence and some of our deliveries were better, but unfortunately we never took them. I thought our front players had a mixed game tonight - Obika played reasonably well, but really needed to take one of his 3 or 4 chances. St.Ricky
This is fascinating. Really competitive bottom 6.Nervous times perhaps. The run in is going to be tight. Much better than meaningless games imo.
scam75
Until Goodwin realises Andreu and Morias are worse than useless we are in trouble. It seems every sub he makes makes us less likely to look like a football team. That game was crying out for Mullen to come on. Instead we get Andreu who looks slower than a slow thing on national slow day. However does hold the world record for yards above the crossbar from a penalty kick. And then Morias whose head is so heavy he cannot see the opposition or his team mates so runs straight into the first thing in his path with his head down. Add that to McGrath staying on for the full game. I am genuinely puzzled why Goodwin can't see this.Chabbi was unlucky with his header. He also ran about like someone who had played professional football before. So we may have something there. But until Andreu and Morias are in the sea I fear we are friar tucked. Luther G. Presley
We will be bottom come the split I reckon with the run of games we have before it, hopefully we have the bottle in the 5 games after the split to keep us in the division, I’m not hopeful to be honest. Lord Pityme
One team usually caves in the split, unable to avoid the inevitable. Come the weekend results we may have a better idea which two teams that is between.

Aiming low avoids dissapointment. I get that. It's a very Paisley thing to do. Let's see where we actually finish before the split. The team last night was organised and worked hard. We hit the post twice, their keeper made a great save. Had one of these gone in it would have reflected our higher possession, shots at goal and corners in the game. W6er
My fear is that Hearts are looking revitalised, and I genuinely do not think they're bad enough to go down. Hamilton are survival specialists, and will be buoyed by last night's result. Where does that leave us?
Tommy
Last night convince me how much we have missed Paul McGinn overlapping. Nobody else at the club seem to have a clue how to get to the byline. Playoff will do me. Only plus last night was the size of the home support which was larger than both Motherwell and Kilmarnock last night.

Dibbles old paperboy
With 10 games left to play we probably need to hit 40 points to stay up without the play off and 2 of our games are against Celtic and Rangers International. Jim needs to get some wins - a couple back to back would do wonders for us. We've not won many key head to heads and haven't really put a winning run together. 1 win = 3 draws in terms of points totals Jim! Realistically we have 8 games to amass another 14 points so we have some breathing space. Can anyone see us winning 50% of our key games between now and the end of the season while Jim keeps on turning to the same attacking options every week? The most likely scenario is we pick up 8-10 points and have to keep watching Hearts and Accies results and see Ross County increase the gap between us and them as they get a few more wins to make them safe. Good point (no pun intended). There are no easy games in our league and Jim needs more than 3 quarters of a season before the usual "sack him" is mooted. A number of managers have taken more than this time to get their squad and playing tactics right. Jim is still learning and will make mistakes. We must give him time otherwise the uncertainty from a revolving door will damage our club's reputation further.

Very few of the people criticising Goodwin's team selection, tactics and substitutions want him 'sacked'. We've lost two 1st team starting XI players in Flynn and Magennis - I think people would like to see Jim using a few more players he inherited over the final few months rather than always sticking with his own signings when a few of them don't seem to be an improvement on what we had already. When McGinn is fit will he be sitting on the bench next to Mullen, Cooke (if he's lucky), McAlister and will Jim still be turning to McGrath, Andreu, Morias every week? W6er
(Above image courtesy of Faraway Saint) Remaining pre-split fixtures: Hamilton Kilmarnock (h) Ross County (a) Hibs (h) St Johnstone (a) Hearts Motherwell (h) St. Mirren (a) Livingston (a) Ross County (h) Aberdeen (a) Ross County Rangers (h) Hamilton (h) Hearts (a) St. Mirren (h) St. Mirren Celtic (a) Hearts (h) Kilmarnock (a) Rangers (h) Ross County (a) On 2/22/2020 at 10:42 PM, W6er said: We actually finished season 12/13 in 11th spot with 41 points! Hearts finished tenth that season with 44 points. Hearts also would have ended season 13/14 with 38 points were it not for the 15 point penalty. I reckon a target of 40 points is both realistic and should see us avoid the bottom two positions. In which case we'll need 18 points from the 36 available. Don't get me wrong, last season Hamilton did it with 33 points, but I suspect we will need more this year. 40 points might sound like a lot, but there are actually 15 points available post-split. So we have: Motherwell (a) St. Johnstone (h) Celtic (a) Kilmarnock (a) Rangers (h) Ross County (a) TBC - Hearts (h) Plus (as things stand): Hearts (a) Hamilton (a) Ross County (h) St Johnstone (a) Kilmarnock (h) Obviously the post-split fixture have yet to be confirmed, but those above appear likely. Therefore: Home: St. Johnstone, Rangers, Hearts, Ross County and Kilmarnock. Away: Motherwell, Celtic, Kilmarnock, Ross County, Hearts, Hamilton and St. Johnstone Four points from the last six available is good. We now need 14 points from the remaining 30 available, and I expected the majority of those to come after the split. Remaining fixtures: Celtic (a) Hearts (h) Kilmarnock (a) Rangers (h) Ross County (a) *Hearts (a) *Hamilton (a) *Ross County (h) *St Johnstone (a) *Kilmarnock (h) *Predicted post-split games
