IF remaining games are played behind doors (solution)

Recommended Posts

Call season as it is but scrap relegation. Go to 3 x 14 team leagues.

2 come up from Championship

4 go up from League 1

Rest of league 1 merges with league 2.

Either 3 rounds of 13 games (preferable) for 39 games or 2 rounds of 13 then split after 26 and top and bottom 7 play each other home and away for 38 games.

Straight 2 up 2 down, no playoffs. If playoffs are insisted, 3rd bottom plays 3rd top in one off game at neutral ground.

It’s late so excuse me if I’m wrong but would that not give us 14-12-16?

It might well be the fairest way to do it to be honest and it would perhaps avoid legal challenges although you would still have to deal with the issue of possible promotion from the Highland and Lowland Leagues.

Not sure, perhaps as a compromise, sweeten the deal going forward for both HL and LL teams.

Currently they really have only half a promotion slot (or 1/3 of you consider they have to play 2 playoffs to go up) Instead of forcing both league winners into a playoff against each other and then have the winner fighting it out with the worst team in league 2, offer automatic promotion for each league winner going forward.

Maybe even keep the playoffs but the 2 runners up fight it out and winner plays 3rd bottom of the restructured league 1.

Would the old firm get the lions share of that at home.

You don't need to restructure all the leagues. As I mentioned earlier, call leagues as they are, no relegation, promote top two in each lower league, promote HL and LL champions, then it is only the Premiership that needs to change its games (play twice, then split), the rest can carry on as they are.

It can be decided whether this is a trial for an expanded top league (and so keep it for a few seasons) or whether to revert back to the status quo by altering relegation over a few seasons.

Possibly, but I'd argue that restructure is badly needed up and down the leagues. 3 sets of 14 teams would be a better setup than the current 12-10-10-10 setup. In my opinion.

Spfl already have a blueprint for league reconstruction with an amended 8-8-8 format.
Dont think it will be opposed this time round.

The problem is getting clubs to agree what happens if this season is written off.
Namely Celtic want to be appointed champions and Sevco dont want that...
Surely a common sense, tried and tested, non controversial method is to let celtic keep the titles as long as the rename themselves ' The Celtic FC' for the new season?
Cant see that being a problem..

Finish the Season off when we get all clear. It's only a few league games and 3 Scottish Cup Ties.
No need for fecking reconstruction.
Aye very good!

Players will be out of contract.
Players will have left.
Will new players be allowed to sign?

That makes it a different team... hardly right or fair.

It is what it is.

We need to respond appropriately.

The majority of us are working from Home

The world is in lockdown, financial markets are suspended , trillions of aid, social isolation and people dying and we want to know if the poxy season will be finished with the ugly sisters 1 and 2...……………...

Who cares !!!!!!!

Agreed...
But in the meantime...
Will you be making a donation to Raith Rovers, Hearts, Well or Richard Branson?

Teams will remain the same despite different players.

Old players out, new players in.

Finish the Season and carry on.

Players move out and in during January, in the middle of the Season.

Most clubs will have no money to bring in new players without some sense of future budgets.  How can you offer a player a contract when you have no idea if the club can afford it? Players do move in January - pre contract, without a club after release or sell due to needing money.  The circumstances at this time are wholly different with many clubs likely to fold with little or no income. There will be little movement on new players at mist clubs until the current crisis is resolved and income streams start again via matches, season ticket sales etc.  Even the big 2 in Scotland will be wary if opening transfer talks at this time with no idea when a ball will be kicked in earnest again.

Teams will pay what they can and get on with it.

Players will probably get what they deserve.

Maybe the players can get jobs elsewhere and play football for the fun of it.

The beautiful game.

Wimbledon, Euros, Olympics, major Golf and Baseball  plus events like Edinburgh festival all cancelled. Still some actually think the football season can restart at the end of this month or next. There is absolutely zero chance of this or any major sport taking place until the foreseeable future.  The most optimistic punters think around late summer or later is likely.

What exactly are Sevco playing for ? Lose all their games so they can come 3rd ?
