antrin
Succumbed to CV19. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2020/apr/08/john-prine-songwriter-bob-dylan-johnny-cash-bruce-springsteen He had had throat cancer, and also on the lung, but worked on through those. Was a wild living man... he actually succumbed to underlying causes. amazing song writer. i first heard of him from Joan Baez’ album, Diamonds and Rust. His song, Hello, In There...simple but emotional and beautiful. She jazzed it up, Compare it to JP’s slow, slight version... and google his rambling chatty performances such as You Never Even Called Me By My Name. JP’s Hello in There... I could go on... As perceptive and precise and simple a writer as Bob Dylan. “Sam Stone” about Vietnam Vets... tough stuff. or, more recently, “in spite of ourselves”. Funny, naughty true.... and he had one about wife swapping! and also corny stuff. ”And the sky is black and still now On the hill where the angels sing”. thank you, John Prine. rabuddies
https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=Angel+From+Montgomery+Bonnie+Raitt&&view=detail&mid=6732C505EB366C7093146732C505EB366C709314&&FORM=VRDGAR&ru=%2Fvideos%2Fsearch%3Fq%3DAngel%2BFrom%2BMontgomery%2BBonnie%2BRaitt%26FORM%3DVDMHRSFirst heard his song Sam Stone being sung by a US draft dodger in a bar in Hamburg in 1972 . Interesting guy, he had dyed his hair blonde and lived mostly in Sweden as he thought that would confuse "the Feds" as they were none too bright. He said JP was the best song writer he had ever heard so I looked him up back home and listened to his first album in Cuthbertson's as the woman in the records dept was a friend of my aunts. I was blown away by "Angel From Montgomery" and to this day it is still makes the hairs on the back of my head quiver. I've never heard bad cover version - just listen to this Bonnie Raitt wersion. RIP John you were one of the best. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toJ3ZYWRh24 Edited April 9, 2020 by rabuddies wrong link
