Mid Calder Saint Posted October 5, 2020 Report Posted October 5, 2020 Press reports indicate we are trying to bring in 23 year old left back Brandon Mason from Coventry on loan. Quote
Hendo Posted October 5, 2020 Report Posted October 5, 2020 I thought I recognised his name - was on loan at Dundee United, played one game against Falkirk where they got scudded 6-1 and it looked like he'd never played the game before. However, he's since played 36 games for Coventry over 2 seasons, so can't judge him on one result. Glad we are now getting defensive cover, if we get him and the centre half from Rangers just need a creative midfielder in. JR owes us one, come home Stevie! Quote

antrin Posted October 5, 2020 Report Posted October 5, 2020 Wow. Hope the club signed a get-well-soon card for the lad... Quote
Saint@Johnstone Posted October 6, 2020 Report Posted October 6, 2020 So we have signed two reserve players, neither of whom is likely to either play regularly or score a goal. My decision not to renew my season book seems more judicious by the day. Sorry to say this but cannot see the manager being in place for too much longer, and then we will be back to square one. Possibly in a lower league as well. Quote

FTOF Posted December 22, 2020 Report Posted December 22, 2020 With the option of a recall in January, I hope that the left back/midfield of Coventry City are excelling at present. Quote

We tried to get LB Sam McCallum on loan from Norwich in the summer , he went to Coventry instead and has played every game. Quote

Good. I hope Mason is enjoying himself. I think that's the biggest issue for loan players in the current climate: can't be easy being away from home for a long time while you can't socialise (even if he can't socialise in Coventry, either, I'd imagine it'd be tempting to conflate the two.) billyg Posted December 23, 2020 Report Posted December 23, 2020 I see the Fakes have lost McNamara , who played every week , as he has been recalled by Millwall. I wouldn't be surprised to see Mason recalled too. Quote

Brown has been offered to them , they are still to agree. Looking at his playing history , they might not want him ! Quote
munoz Posted December 23, 2020 Report Posted December 23, 2020 Goodwin didn't look best pleased with his 2nd yellow tonight. Didn't look at him on his way off the park. Quote

I would imagine that is just frustration from Jim but as a player who was partial to a second yellow card himself, I’m sure he will get over it 😛 Quote
lenziebud Posted December 25, 2020 Report Posted December 25, 2020 (edited) Thought Mason looked poor against Hibs on Wednesday if I'm being honest. Sending off capped off a poor performance overall. Thought he looked good in his first few games but for me he's shaded quite a bit since then. Can see why Coventry offloaded him on loan. Wouldn't be overly fussed if Coventry recalled him. I don't think they will. Edited December 25, 2020 by lenziebud Quote

Aye he did a good defensive job on Tavenier but for me I just think he hasn't looked the player he did in his first few matches going forward. Not convinced by him. Thought he really struggled against Hibs and looked very average. Time will tell Quote

spankin_panda Posted January 5, 2021 Report Posted January 5, 2021 Mason has a very poor game against Killie. I’ve not been overly impressed other than the cup game against you know who, where he was man marking. But having been asked to play up and down then line on Saturday past, he just didn’t look great and wasn’t tight enough to his man on several occasions, including the goal. see how he gets on over the next few weeks, could turn out to be another Dummet who didn’t start well.
