Bud the Baker 8,623 Report post Posted October 26, 2020 Angus Deayton's career suffered a similar trajectory in 2002 after the same sorta allegations from the NotW (happily now defunct) - does anyone think a presenter could get away with it now?

Bud the Baker 8,623 Report post Posted October 26, 2020 4 minutes ago, antrin said: Gove...? sniff sniff... Well it was reported to have hurt his leadership bid last year, quite a few Tories have gone down the "tried it at Uni, but didn't inhale" line or something similar in the past few years, but the funniest was BJs imaging he'd been the inspiration for the scene in Annie Hall saying he'd tried cocaine but sneezed and scattered it around the room. You may be right tho' cos BJ got away with it but then again he was already scoring 11/10 for his dodgy past and perhaps nothing more could hurt him. Bough was a daytime regular on sports/soft news shows back in '87, the fuss over Deayton surprised me a bit in 2002 as he wasn't exactly a in the same category - I guess it would depend on how much of a squeaky clean image you've been cultivating.
