Wee Danny took us to highest finish and a cup victory & we let him go, Goodwin was also part of the back stabbing that led to Tommy Craig taking over.

Good shout Ronnie...

It was a performance similar to our recent off field antics - passive, lacking in effort and imagination. At least, it was for the first 62 minutes - after that i cant comment as my stream failed, to add to the fantastic customer service experience which the club specialises in these days.

Felt Kiltie was a bit of a ghost at times as forgot he was playing. Goodwin might like the 3-5-2 formation, but found that the wing backs were along out there. No one coming out to support or overlap with. At times felt like the strikers were then getting dragged out there, with no one coming through the middle. It felt very very narrow moving up the park or we would try chip it over for people to run on to, to then have no one coming through the middle as the strikers were then pulled wide with the chip over. Just felt a bit like there was no options or plan B to change the formation when not working.

I feared the worst when I saw the starting XI and Tait was right wing back.

I think we’ve already had the last good knockings of Tait and he’s now a spent force. Certainly not up to the demands of a wing back role. I would either have given Henderson one more chance (he was poor last week but had been good before) as he would have made us more offensive, or I’d have brought McCarthy into the back 3 and played Fraser at WB.
I was also a wee bit surprised that Erhahon didn’t start as I think he’s been one of our best performers so far this season.
As for up front….sigh….

Brophy looks absolutely useless and I’m not even particularly convinced about how hard he tries. Main on the other hand busts a gut but has even less composure than Brophy.
I’d been begging for Dennis to be given a run of games and then the stupid twat comes on and does that after we’ve just pulled a goal back. I’d fine the stupid c**t a week’s wages for that.
All very depressing. We look a shadow of the side we were last season.

What a cess pit this place has become. More trolls than actual supporters left. Little wonder numbers are at an all time low.

As for today bar the initial 20 mins there wasn't much in it. We never got Tanser into the game and given both Fraser and Tait are old fashioned full backs we really need a RWB to persist with this formation. Strikers having to feed off set pieces and long balls so hard to tell what they can do. Power and McGrath did well and Kiltie showed flashes but again hard for him to get into the game. Hearts look decent and will be up there challenging for Europe but given their budget and infrastructure you would expect that. Going by some of the comments on here you would have thought we had just lost to Albion Rovers rather then the 3rd / 4th biggest club in the country. Oh and Dennis should get his arse kicked and fined heavily,  cost us any chance of a point.

Not on today's performance. McGrath was head and shoulders better than anyone in our team. No offence to Tait, Kiltie and Tanser but they are midfield journeymen compared to McGrath (and add Erhahon, McPherson and Flynn) and we will not spend decent money to replace him. When McGrath goes the team will be substantially weaker.

What you mean will be I don't think it can get much worse.

Think today shows on games than fan pressure influences games....u have zero argument in this!

You’re incorrect, we just came up against a better organised team on the day with more quality. By your logic why can’t we determine fan pressure on the other four games we’ve played Thais season & remained unbeaten until today?

Regardless, it’s irrelevant, all clubs were in the same boat last season & around 50% of our starters today weren’t even at the club. Moaning about the pressures or lack there of is just silly. Last season counted, I’ve checked 😂

The confidence comes from the manager and if hes shitting it the players feel it!!

Hearts beat worst Celtic team in at least 10 years but could easily be worst in 30 let's face it Hearts haven't exactly had to work too hard for their 4 league goals this season.

Wee Danny took us to highest finish and a cup victory & we let him go, Goodwin was also part of the back stabbing that led to Tommy Craig taking over.

Just to let you know over 157 teams took part in the 2 cups last season 156 of them were losers semi final, quarter final, final, first round knock out means fu*k all unless you win it.

The worst Celtic team in a decade should still walk over Hearts or St Mirren given the massive financial advantage they have to bring in quality of players. Take out Rangers, they have a bigger wage structure than every professional team in Scotland combined.

Danny’s time was up, it was right call for him to go, it wasn’t based on the cup winning season. It was on us clearly starting to go backwards after that. That isn’t apparent with Goodwin, we’re two games into the league campaign ffs.

The Goodwin apparent ‘back stabbing’ is exactly why some fans are being critical right now. They’re incapable of moving on, forgiving & forgetting. If it was a manager with no history at St Mirren prior , no danger would they be calling for him to leave.

Yep true but it still shows decent progress in the cup. It’s absolutely a parameter of what Goodwin has done at this club. Curious some fans choose to ignore that but call for his head after one loss in five games.

Yes but you only get results if you try winning the f**king games instead of shitting it.

St Mirren tried to win the game today. There is absolutely zero argument at all that Goodwin should walk. At best it’s unreasonable at worst it’s ludicrous.

Matter of opinion stated as fact. One I disagree with.

He had earned the opportunity to turn things around and deserved more respect!

The board wanted to "take us in a new direction"!

They certainly did. Down!

Interesting that you continually reference league placings to evidence the club's progress.... how did Danny Lennon's league placing work out before his contract wasn't renewed?

By punting long hopeful balls all game. It was a fcuking awful performance by St Mirren and the tactics are provided by the manager.

Only one team attempted to play football on the deck today, and they ultimately won the game. If we don’t improve massively we will be fighting at the wrong end of the table.

It wasn’t great, they won’t all be great. That’s football at this level.

I agree with the too many long ball nonsense,  but I still think we weren't any worse than Hearts today.

We desperately need some quality in. 2 decent players in could quite easily change where we end up this season.

Jesus BEK, give yourself some time off.
I post about the ref - start an argument

I post about an old managers departure - start an argument

I don’t post about your views on the first half - start an argument.

The irony is, you did the exact same as me on your take regarding Danny’s last season.

Your last point, situations aren’t comparable IMO (since again that seems to be essential referencing in my posts for some) and at no time have I ever suggested league placement can always be applied consistently to a manager progressing a team.
