No need to panic.

We are sitting 8th in the league and still in the Scottish Cup.

Irrespective of league position, even relegation, if we win the Scottish Cup it will be a magnificent end of the Season.

Scottish Cup getting paraded round Paisley and qualifying for Europe again.

Will do me

"The game becomes a lottery" when it goes to penalties?  Really?  Pity we never bought a ticket for the "penalty lottery"

Haven't you ever heard of penalty shoot outs being seen as a lottery?

My, you've led a sheltered life. 🤣

It's nice to keep a positive view, as long as we don't delude ourselves.  Top 6, absolutely true and also level on points with 2 teams below us and not many points ahead of teams currently in real trouble.

"We don't draw enough games".  I'd say that is a valid reason for yesterday's positive slant, up until the point you realise we were never in danger.  There are games we have lost that we should have drawn, however most fans seem to say that this is a game we drew that should have been a win.

Squeezing the maximum from the players?  So many bad signings this year have left the squad under pressure so I'd agree, the players are being asked to give, in some circumstances, more than they have to give.

My positive from yesterday is that we made far fewer defensive mistakes than we have in most games we either lost or drew so far this season.  That is the  big positive and if it continues then there are a few more wins to be had before the split.  The lack of goals is worrying, the majority of our opponents have a tactic that nullifies our main threat and we don't have an alternative plan.  There is some hope in Mandron's re-birth as someone who can hold the ball up and link with a team-mate, we really should be trying to capitalise on that since he is actually quite good at it.

To keep perspective on the whole we are not scoring goals thing, do we have an issue, Yes , does most of our league , also yes.

Of the 12 teams in the league 8 of the 12 have scored 35 goals or less , this includes Aberdeen who have proven goalscorers out of our price range, Hearts who have a proven goalscorers and Scotland international, even Hibs who have 37 goals who a lot of people would say a better strike force than us but who offered them little at the weekend.

The league is tight as a gnats ass this year and I am still hopeful of top 6 or 5th if our defence cuts the mistakes and our forwards stutter forward

I guess the real problem is how poor an already poor league has become in the last two years.  Clubs like ours can't compete with even English |eague 2 on player salaries, which raises the question of why do so few young players get a decent run in this league?

Sitting top 6 at this time of year with a goal difference of -9 or worse shows how poor it is for the supporter and the fact that only 3 teams have made it into positive figures shows a wider problem.  No room for talent, poor managers and coaches across most clubs and a league set-up that is designed to kill competition.  This is the result of the deals done years ago on structure & finance.

Time to put this "fairy tale" that we seem to be the only team that doesn't give youth a chance to bed.

Here are the average age of all teams in our league, ranging from 25 to just over 26 which, in case anyone's struggling, proves that there's nothing between any of the 12 teams in the age of the players.

Now, exactly why the average age isn't lower is anyone's guess, aye a guess, as it could be lots of reasons.

The Scotland U21 team has won only 4 games from the last 16, going back over the last two and half years so that suggests we don't have a conveyor line of youngsters that are setting the heather on fire.

The U19's are doing a little better with 7 wins from the last 16 although I'd suggest plenty of "stars" in this age bracket somehow disappear into oblivion.
