OPEN LETTER TO THE BOARD AND ANYONE ELSE

Recommended Posts

It has already been stated that last year our (SMISA nominated) chairman stated that something would have to be done regarding the two stand situation. At the St Mirren FC online AGM the issue came up again with much the same comments.

As a long-term member of SMISA I attended the SMiSA AGM where the club chairman to his credit accepted criticism and described the situation as ‘toxic’. He said ‘we are listening’, ‘we hear you’ and that the board had a ‘working party’ (members unidentified) reporting back to allow the board to make a decision.

At the meeting it was as good as unanimous that one stand only should be  offered to both the clubs who bring bigoted, sectarian and vandalism behaviour to OUR stadium, resulting in home fans especially those with young supporters staying away from OUR home.

Passions ran high at that meeting and four or five speakers laid the situation out very clearly, including one who is now on the SMISA committee. It was pointed out by more than one person that a decision must be made before season ticket prices were announced Mr Neeham gave the impression that would happen. That’s what me and my companions took from his comments. Now look at where we are.

Why has ‘toxic’ been so downgraded that we now need a ‘SURVEY’ to tell us what we already know? This needs sorted and sorted now. Supporters stuck by the club over two years, paid their money with no idea when they would be able to return, and are now treated with contempt.

What kind of commercial decision is this? Where is the marketing expertise we have heard so much about from Kibble? Believe me, after all my years in industry and technology no company that has to actually earn money rather than apply for grant after grant would treat its customer base in this manner.

I am certain no SMISA member would agree with this shambles. Supporter friends of other clubs like Killie and Motherwell I’ve told are gobsmacked we are being treated like this.

Good, loyal supporters are being treated as though they are stupid. This is a classic situation where the board will announce that not enough tickets have been sold (due to a situation they themselves have created), so they have no option but to keep the two stands as they are and the fans can suck it up.

It feels like this situation is being manufactured. Are we short of money? It certainly looks like it.

Fans elsewhere in the ground hate this too and won’t buy in.
Community club?

Do you hear the supporters board of directors? They stuck with you. Now you have to stick with them. Fix this now.

"I am certain no SMISA member would agree with this shambles."

the only bit I disagree with.

Surely you can see it coming from a mile off...

Buy now or lose early bird.

Buy now or lose your seat.

We now have the results of our survey, which was worded in a way such as to heavily support our agenda and label any dissenter as St Moan refusing to accept the democratic will of the people!

Scree you... We have your money and now we get theirs too... But we listened!

Future generation of fans? Forsaken and will dwindle by the season.

When TV cash and sponsorship income is tight... Who will they turn to if there are few fans left?

Marketing expertise! The kibble operate as a monopoly, there are very few if any organisations in Scotland that have the size or capacity to outbid the Kibble when it comes to delivering specialist child and youth care. Why they would be football club marketing experts is beyond me. Sounds like there tax status was the major draw.

I never noticed and willing to be proved wrong. Did anyone publicly complain when 2 clubs from Glasgow got both ends of the St Mirren Park previous to the move to Greenhill Road?

As we don't currently get enough fans in excess of the capacities of the Main and West Stand what's the problem in the meantime in cashing in?

Can I tell you all one of the main problems with folk not attending regularly, the moaning face cnuts that are vocal about a lot of menial shit.

Pretty sure they got the Caledonia stand (behind goal) and half the north stand)

This is about our next generation of support.

Hardly menial!

Same old imaginary issue.

Absolutely no evidence the current situation has had, or will have, any effect on this supposed next generation of support.

You won't be around to see my point being proved correct. The world will be a better place for it.

There is something about our chairman that I just don't like.  I don't think he is savy enough to run a club.

Hopefully he shrinks into back ground and Lasley does the work and talking.

Oh I think he is Savvy enough. Still don’t think he should be there. A Boris type.

Some of our fans really are miserable & for whom the club can do nothing right.
- Club decision to give the bigots two stands because of the significant financial benefit & the fact we can’t fill our own seats: Moan.

- Club (our new ownership) takes action following feedback from supporters to survey views: Still moan

Honestly cannot see the fuss in this. Couple of hundred fans behind goal for game or a full stand at £25 a ticket. Its a total no brainer from a business point of view. Nothi g worse game on television and stand is empty which it would be. Until we can sell enough season tickets that this cannot happen then continue to take their cash. Stands are much emptier on game day from Saints fans i  West Bank and main stand anyway.

Double edged sword.

As long as we continue to value their cash ahead of our own support, we will never fill the stands.

Following feedback from supporters?

Have you already written it on behalf of real fans?

We don’t know if the majority of supporters are in favour of scrapping the two stands. The survey will give us a very good indication.
