This is either…

f**king embarrassing.

A sad indictment of the Scottish Premiership.

A pre season friendly which should be largely ignored.

You decide.

The first and second.

All 3!!

To be fair, Northampton had an average gate of 5,366 last season compared with our 4,553.

We have similar size grounds and they don’t get Old Firm fixtures.

*they* are the bigger club

Decent fitness exercise and a run out for all the young boys in the squad. Exactly what was required although no doubt some of the usual suspects will be looking out the pampers after what was an open training session.

Still your playing a team that’s behind in pre season and your at home and they took the game two days ago. Needs to be better does it not. Get it’s about fitness but I like to play to win and for a bit of pride for the Scottish league

It certainly does on Saturday.

However, as tonight's result will have absolutely no bearing on our season whatsoever, it matters not a jot. It would have been nice to get a result, but if people are annoyed by this type of result, then they're in for a very, very long season.

And that is why the bookies have us as favourite to go  down

Some folk need to get a grip. In the second half we had seven Academy players out there with one being 15 and another 16. Great runout for the young lads. Was very impressed with them.

Thought we played well enough 1st half their goal aside. 2nd it was good to see the young uns get a run out.

Pre season friendlies are only about getting match fitness and nothing more.

With Brophy, Main and Baccus still to feature and Toyosi getting his first minutes, i think there's plenty to be positive about.

We'll have a better idea how we're shaping up after the League Cup group games.

One thing that did make me chuckle tonight was a lone Hartlepool fan sitting a few seats along from me.

Fair play to him for making the Journey.

22 Northampton fans in the Main Stand

I counted them during our substitution break

Attendance of 2211 tonight

The team we put out will by and large not be the side we normally go with. Not fussed at all about the score. There was negatives and positives to take away.

Gallagher, Ayunga and O'Hara look the part so far.

Is Carson better than Alnwick hmm will wait and see.

Northampton had a couple of players I would happily take for ourselves.

We are not finished building our side and the young lads will play a part.

Roll on Saturday which will gauge our side better
