exiledfan
Tomorrow 9 pm on channel 5 is the last episode of Neighbours after 37 years on our screens. It's kind of sad that a TV show running for 37 years that launched so many careers and part of "some of" our youths is over.
StanleySaint
Good, now where do we sign up to get rid of Coronation Street, Eastenders and Emmerdale?

It's kind of sad that a TV show running for 37 years that launched so many careers and part of "some of" our youths is over. For many years it was on in our house as a background ‘tea time filler’ as in we didn’t sit down especially to watch it but it was on.I recognise most of the characters and oddly enough, will despite not seeing it for a very long time , will watch it tomorrow out of curiosity.Deadenders should be next on the list assuming it’s still running
stlucifer
The crazy thing about this is that Channel 5 are dumping it despite its popularity. It probably will be forgotten quite quickly as it was just anothe r"fluff" show with many very poor actors on show,

faraway saint
Tuned in tonight mainly for nostalgic reasons. This was a must see for us during the mid/late 80's and into the 90's. Tonight's programme showed the remarkable success many of the cast had after leaving the show. Music and Hollywood actors, quite surprising. One blatant omission tonight was Craig McLaughlin, not sure how/why? Aye, the show itself was pretty corny but produced a long line of talented people. We enjoyed guessing who was who, deliberately staying away from Google.

Being honest, I (we) don’t watch any soaps but know that millions do and enjoy them. Back in the day when Neighbours first arrived in the UK I can remember people talking about how they arranged their diaries around it so it had a great following. Early days plots - yes I did watch a few then - were as others have described as fluffy. Soaps now, as far as I can tell from the odd thing I read about them seem to focus on one high adrenaline problem or issue to another. I won’t miss them if the go
rabuddies
Drew an audience of 2.5M in the UK. Even women's football get sheds more than that!

We tuned in for nostalgia's sake, trying to remember the names of the characters was better than the show which was it's normal 2nd rate acting. I have to admit, I've always fancied a wee go at Susan.

We enjoyed guessing who was who, deliberately staying away from Google. Craig McLachlan, 56, who played heartthrob Henry Ramsay between 1987 and 1989, had an integral part in one of the most-viewed weddings in soap history in walking his sister Charlene Mitchell - played by Kylie - down the aisle. McLachlan says he was not invited to partake or have any mention of his character in the programme's final scenes due to "cancel culture" following sexual assault charges against him in 2020. The father-of-one was cleared of the seven charges of assault and indecent assault on four women when he was in an Australian production of The Rocky Horror Show in 2014. A spokeswoman for McLachlan said: "Henry’s dead mother is being reincarnated for the final episode — but cancel culture won’t allow her son Henry to appear or even be acknowledged. "What Craig and his partner have endured over the past four-and-a-half years — only to come out the other side and be confronted by, among other things, the attempted permanent erasing of his part in Neighbours history — is devastating. "Craig was not invited to take part in the closing episode or indeed to contribute in any way to the end of Neighbours."

I did wonder why he wasn't in it. 👍

Was he not accussed of harrassment of female cast members while playing the lead in the aussie soap The Dr. Blake Mysteries?

Social media has not improved culture.
