BBC News - Queen's Park out of Scottish Cup over ineligible player, Inverness to face Livingston

Forward Euan Henderson signed on loan from Heart of Midlothian after the tie was initially postponed on 21 January.
Playing him in Tuesday's rearranged tie, which Queen's Park won 2-0, was contrary to competition rules.

Now here's where this rule can cause problems.

As the game was scheduled and rearranged during a transfer window.

This restricts a club from selling players during the official transfer window as they can not play players brought in during said time.

Indeed it does seem to be a quite ridiculous rule, however, it isn't new and they knew it was there despite their oversight so face the corresponding punishment, daft as it may seem
