They'll be too busy celebrating.

In the manner of Andrea Loathsome when Brexit went through, I'd wager.

I haven't been keeping abreast of things but, if Gilmour has been elected, I'm astounded. He was an emergency we needed at a juncture when we were scraping the barrel. He shrunk our club. He has no expansive thinking when it comes to regrowing our club. This would definitely be a backward step.

Accounts online go as far back as when @SGG was appointed in 1994:

The accounts that year showed losses of circa £800,000 with debt approaching £1.8M before “assets” come into play.

It gets worse in 1995 with outstanding debt of £3.2M.

I’ve not checked all the available accounts so maybe there is a worse year.

When the Gilmour led consortium sold to @GLS and SMISA the picture was as follows:

85BE1BAB-4775-40E8-9112-631F25BD0847.thumb.jpeg.b19a419ec7b311a535c4826e2c4a536d.jpeg

Now I’m no fan of every decision that @SGG and his consortium made but by fcuk they saved our club from administration and possibly liquidation.

Gilmour and his consortium are far more important to the history of our club than Shuggie Murray’s goal at Forthbank or Fitzpatrick’s success as the formal club captain lifting the Scottish Cup in 1987.

Last years accounts for reference:

John Needham appointed a director in September 2020.

Needham became chair in July 2021.

The accounts for last year resulted in a true operating loss of around £40,000 which given the highly unusual circumstances of the Covid pandemic and all the additional costs associated with player testing, additional transport, no visiting fans, no hospitality and likely reduced sponsorship that was a fantastic result.

The Scottish government Covid loan of £1.7M screws up the actual profit/loss figures as published in the accounts up to 31-5-21.

Now during the pandemic a decision was made to modernise the Academy which made sense as it was not being fully utilised.

For a time the players were fitness training and changing at the SMISA stadium. I trust that this work is now fully complete and the Academy is fully operational at Elite status.

Let’s see how good Mr Needham’s chairmanship and Mr Gillespie’s vice chairmanship measures up once this years accounts are published.

But surely there has been absolutely no need to spend any of the Covid loan?

We received money for McGrath and Goodwin which exceeded what we paid out to Morecambe.

No were not. There's no way and Scottish government is gonna be asking for that money back according to Former SMISA Chairman George Adam MSP.

That could statement would be advised to be removed for obvious reasons.

With people losing jobs, homes, etc because of stupid decisions made by politicians that could come back to haunt him!

This is the important point when it comes to the accounts being released.

What was the drop in Revenue due to Covid? How did that balance against Expenditure (which was also greatly reduced)?

And if there was a shortfall/gap - how does that compare balance with the ScotGov loan balance?

Decent guy he may be but, I still find it strange that smisa members are asked to confirm his appointment without knowing who the other candidates were.

They have been asked this on a number of occasions recently. The last   appointment was another nice guy who wore a suit in a bored room at Scotrail. In charge of budget 100 x larger than St Mirren but strangely very quiet at meetings when asked questions by a former chairman

Those are the rules

SMiSA constitution ask members to ratify their choice

Seems to be a popular choice reading comments on tweets

I don’t have a choice, just sharing the news

Maybe he should have went to a more stimulating one .

It was a deliberate error on my part. I’ve never “enjoyed” being in those arenas. Full of egos and dodgy shysters.

I believe they refer to themselves as C level executives. C stands for cnuts!

I openly acknowledged his important intervention at the beginning of my post. We are in a totally different situation now and don't require the biscuit tin mentality that was needed then. Horses for courses. He could have destroyed all he worked for toward the end of his tenure because he was "tired" of the association. He should not be involved now in the same way others who also put their money where their mouths were at the time.

Jock beg to differ.

He helped to launch a share issue on the club to raise funds on the belief that we were being sold to a shady character. Hundreds of other people, along with SGG, bought shares at the same time. Following the share issue SGG started to acquire shares from the existing largest shareholders to increase his personal shares in the company.

All the names of those shareholders are on Companies House along with the number of shares they purchased.

Thats a bit harsh on yourself, were you not once, in a precious alias, a member of the SMISA board.
