Wilbur
R.I.P. Inevitable, but still devastating news. A Scottish legend both on and off the rugby pitch.

Aye, a tragic illness, like so many, and a very sad and painful end to a sporting heroes life. Only 52, FFS. 😞 I have little time for rugby but a great deal of time for this man RIP and hopefully some rest for his family. I'm truly sad about this. Percy Veer
I was sad to hear about Doddle Weir's passing. Wilbur's post above sums up how I feel, it was unfortunately inevitable but he was brave and faced up to Motor Neuron disease. He was and will always be a Scottish Rugby legend. He was respected and loved by many and I remember watching an interview with Doddie by his former teammate John Beattie in his home on The Nine one evening. The admiration and love between the two men was heartwarming. R.I.P. Doddle.

faraway saint
Just seen a very fitting tribute to the great man on BBC news. Many heartfelt messages from a wide range of people who were touched by his career and fund raising. The funeral will be a very sad event and will surely see a massive turnout from the public.
