Lost 2-0 to Celtic, last game of season when,I think, the Love St end was being renovated

http://www.stmirrenprogrammes.co.uk/StMirren/STM_Match_Details.php?Season=1978&GameID=197905110

I'm almost certain that was the night me and my wee brother got escorted out of the Scumbrox trophy room..

My dad was in the director's box and got us in after the game. He took us into the  trophy room and left us there while he went to the dressing room. We were wandering about on our own when a *** in a blazer came over and sternly asked us who we were with. We told him. He then said we weren't allowed in the room and he almost frogmarched us out the main door.

No post from Faraway yet on this thread, must say i am very surprised 😜

Faraway Saint is conspicuous by his absence on all St Mirren history and memories threads . He has no memories. He is not a Saints fan , never has been . He has never been to a match and has no knowledge of anything St Mirren from the 1960's till now.

He contributes to nearly every topic on here , usually trolling, but nothing on St Mirren history. A fake.

Hello Shull, hope your illness gets better soon.

Try to keep your trolling to other threads, some people are interested in this subject. 🤣🤣🤣

I am not shull and I am as fit as f**k. Tell us all your ups and down of being a St Mirren fan from the 1960's till now. You must have lots of stories. Tell us about your trip to Fir Park for the cup tie in 1977. A person of your age supporting St Mirren must have been there. Tell us about your thrills of that season. Who were Fergie's Furies ? Do you know who Fergie was ?

You must have many St Mirren stories. Let's be having some .

I am interested in it. Let me see your contribution. You must have countless memories of everything St Mirren. I can't wait.

We’ve played Hamilton at 4 different venues.  Douglas Park, New Douglas Park, Firhill and Cliftonhill we’re all home to Accies within the space of about 4 seasons in the 90’s.

Was at Cliftonhill when we played Àccies. I think that was the day the late great Bubbles had a health scare and was taken off.

Faraway Saint will confirm.

You could have at least nicked the St  Etienne bike and lent it to Mahrez.

When my boy was younger we used to go to pre season friendlies all over he always liked going to Stirling Albion. Went to Blyth, Whitley Bay and Carlisle in one glorious week, although we signed Calum Ball and lost the Carlisle game but other than that great to see 3 in a week without travelling for more than hour ☺️

It was a Fri night The crowd is given as 20000 but I don’t think it was anywhere near that

I was there too

There was at least 20K there more i would say.. pretty sure Ibrox was being renovated too at the time and only 3 sides were being used.. Saints fans were housed in the enclosure in front of the main stand, at least that where I was...

I've also watched Saints from the Copeland road end and the old Centenary Stand {Govan Stand} with my scarf on with a few others. no idea how we ended up in those stands, {other than we were pissed}  Surprisingly no one batted a eyelid at us..  Not sure it would happen now

A programme on Channel 5 tonight regarding the power cuts of 1974 triggered my memory.

Scottish Cup Third Round

26th January 1974

Stranraer 1 St Mirren 1 at Stair Park .

29th January 1974 Replay

Played on a Tuesday afternoon as Floodlights were banned due to the power crisis.

St Mirren 1 Stranraer 1 at Love Street, after extra time.

4th February 1974 Second Replay

Played at neutral Somerset Park, Ayr

Stranraer 3 St Mirren 2.

You know who is still conspicuous by his absence on this topic . Going by his age, he should have known the above and many other Saints memories.

Him being a non St Mirren fan and a non football fan, he actually knows f**k all about our sport .

Perhaps this tournament as I also watched both days from the centenary stand:
