He preferred to be called Robert.

Fergie christened him The Executioner.

Fabulous goalscorer

I was lucky enough to witness him score that goal at Ibrox on the 12th of August 1978.

What would 80 pence be in today's money ?

Probably less than the. £28 admission price presently in Scottish association football.

it would still be 80 pence, unless we have reverted to pounds shillings and pence ...........and everyone forgot to tell me

We have. Mogg announced it a few weeks ago, Where have you been? It's now 8 shillings and 8 pence or 8/8. Under 10 bob.

No it would be 16 shillings

One sixpence or Tanner was two and a half new pence
One shilling was 5 new pence

Two shillings or one florin was ten new pence

One half crown was twelve and a half new pence

One crown or 5 bob was twenty five new pence

Ten shillings or a ten Bob note was fifty new pence

8 shillings and 8 pence or 104 old pence would be 43 and a halfnew pence  (rounded up) - not 80 new pence

I was working on the premise that it was 80 old pennies. Hence why it would be exactly as I said. 72 old pennies would be 8 shillings. Leaving 8 old pennies. 8/8.

I don't see why. My original post was correct. 80 old pennies is 8/8. Even an idiot couldn't deny this.

ETA. Look at the original post and the quote from Jaybee.

"it would still be 80 pence, unless we have reverted to pounds shillings and pence ...........and everyone forgot to tell me"
