St Mirren V Fleetwood Town Friendly 13/7/24

Recommended Posts

Focussing mainly on the new players:

Shaun Rooney - hit some probing long balls and was seldom out of the action, but may need time to settle into Robinson's system

Roland Idowu - Confirmed that he could be an attacking threat

Oisin Smyth - a Ryan Strain look-a-like but also has Ryan's dead ball ability as was demonstrated at the first goal - he also looks as if he will be a driving force in midfield

However, the academy players Sutherland and Jamieson set up and scored the second goal very nicely.

Of the 'old brigade' - Gogic, Fraser and O'Hara did what was expected of them and Urminsky did not let himself down.

Hope the rumours about Balcombe are unfounded.

Balcombe was at the game. Slight injury. No news on him leaving. Can't see it being true

The manager confirmed n his post match interview, Balcombe should be back training this week.

I just about caught that on camera. First home goal of the new term.

Rumours circulating that he’s away. Don’t know how much substance in the rumours. Bit of a disaster if true.

From which clowns?

To echo what @northstbuddie said the first half really looked preseason, I felt a few looked a bit lacking in intensity and if I'm honest fitness, Taylor was really solid when he came on and was constantly looking to move us up the pitch and Adenerin also looked a presence in midfield, thought Rooney looked really rusty but all in all it was what it was. Urminsky communicated well with the defence but one worrying thing for me was Gogic reminded me at times of when Goodwin started to slow up, hopefully that is just getting up to speed but something to watch out for.

Was that when Goodwin slowed up and started using his elbows more?

My cousin was at the game yesterday and a few were saying it to her. Who knows where it came from. Remember being at Easter Road when it was ‘definite’ amongst the fans that Robbo was away for the NI job. Delighted the rumours were pish on both counts.

Fleetwood looked much the better team, faster and fitter especially in the first half. Hope we radically change yesterdays team or I fear for us this season. Perhaps it’s still early days, hope so.

Due to your insufferable unpleasantness, I’ve had you on ignore for a long time. I’m sure I’m one of many who find you as someone who contributes nothing of any value. If you had been to the match yesterday- some hope- you would have seen how far short we fell. Please do the forum a favour and stay well away. And put me on ignore if my comments upset you.

You have some neck..... Contributes nothing of any value. 🤣🤣🤣

You don't upset me, you amuse me with your tedious assessment of every football game you watch.

Why would I put you on ignore, you're hilarious. 😅😅😅
